Ok hot topic at my work.....

Why does a woman need an expensive ring or other jewelry? Isn't it purely a status symbol - specifically, a symbol of the financial abilities of their husband/boyfriend?

I find that the notion of women demanding equality (which I am in total favor of) where they have the same responsibilities and benefits as men is totally at odds with the requirement that they then be covered with glitzy stuff to show off how rich their man is?
Really - 2 months salary? If I were to buy my wife a $13,000 ring, I would hope that she would prefer I bought a $2000 ring and used the rest as down payment on a house, or even a total blowout honeymoon.

As it turns out, I was a poor student when we got married and it was "only" $1,200. But if I had to now - she would be embarrased that her husband was such a cheapskate.

Women - why do you need this crap? Isn't it just there to show off to other women how much money your husband has?

My fiance and I are writing our own vows to each other at the end of the ceremony. I thought this would be a really easy thing to do since there are honestly so many wonderful things about him and our relationship, but everytime I sit down with a pen and paper I completely blank! How do they begin, what do you normally say in there, can you be a little humorous?

I'm in kind of a hiatus. The company I work for is downsizing at the end of the year, I'm the only one that has been asked to stay so far. However, I am moving away in August and don't care to go with this company. I would like to quit now, mainly because I've lost all motivation to work and am tired of what I do. If I can find something that I can make at a minimum $20 an hour doing, I'll be able to float by for the next 4 months. Any advice that someone can give I would greatly appreciate it. I'm tired of dealing with this situation and am ready to just move on. Thanks.

so we all know I am going to college next year! Or for those of you who don't know i'm going to Penn State next year! I'm very excited and i decided to join a group called "face book" I started talking to one student whom i found "attractive" by his pictures and asked him how he liked the campus etc. We've been talking since January and we agreed that next year (he's a freshman right now) When he's a sophomore and i'm a freshman we'll grab something to eat. We got into more intense conversations about boyfriends and girlfriends and i asked him why someone as good looking as himself was not in a relationship? He told me it was because he hadn't really "found" the right girl and wasn't going to force himself into a relationship and that love would just find a way and if it happened it happened. He also told me he found me to be very cute from my pictures.

My girlfriend and me just recently broke up, we went out for a year and four months, we agreed to remain good friends, but shes been weird lately...Everytime i try to talk to her she just says i dont have to talk to you and turns away. My boyfriend was everything I ever wanted when we started dating 2 years ago. He was sweet, loyal, kind blah blah blah. Anyway, now it's 2 years later and he has totally changed (or maybe we both have). Also, we live together..I am 23 and he is 22. He only tells me loves me when i say it first and doesn't make any efforts in this relationship to make it better.

Hi,
I am about to decide whether to get married or not.
I have a few problems.
1. I haven't felt Love for the last 10 years.
2. I do get Lust lots of it which I manage to satisfy with office girls and friends. In my line of work there is no shortage of them.
3. The girls I hit on are usually the ones who dress hot and who look pretty.
4. Sometimes I have also successfully hit on some babes who were total strangers.
I need to marry because its expected of people to marry when they get old. Should I marry at all in view of the above problems. I doubt if I can change my traits.

Okay basically there is a girl at work that I like alot, she has a pretty face, and nice body, atleast an 8. This girl is used to getting just about any guy she wants. Her family is also fairly wealthy and she usually gets what she wants. That being said, she tried to get with me on a few occassions but i didn't give in to temptation because of past problems with coworker relationships. well im 17 and graduating from h.s. late june..and well i dont get along with my mother at all..we bump heads all the time for the reason that she still lives in the old times and wants 2 raise me the way they raised her..i get along with my father, he is the best person ever...he understands me more than my mother and i have a great relationship with him...the thing is that im close 2 graduating and i dont know wether to stay and live with her or if i get out of the house and go study abroad or somewhere far where i wont b with my mother..many say that i shouldnt do that because im just running away from my problems..its just that i cant live with her..and i cant wait to graduate b/c its my ticket for freedom..i have a bf hes 19 but i havent introduced him to my parents forthe same reason that my mother will hit me and call me things instead of being happy for me..he is my first bf and well..im really happy with him what can i do?????

recently me and my best friend had sex
we tried this to fulfil our fantasies. The moment i beg him to lost control (role playing) of himself to "roughen" me up .. everything went haywire.. i felt i was rape/humiliated and fighting for my life never been so scared in my life ..he was totally a different person(like a beast).. i guess it was a major disaster.. and after the whole thing .. i cried and cried partly coz i was bleeding and felt so dirty.. i'm shocked that he even cried too .. i'm not sure if he's really crying ...

I have 2 children (2 & 3), 6 months ago their biological father left them home alone for 2-3 hrs to get drunk. My 3 year old got out of the apartment, and was wondering the street in the middle of the night alone, while my 2 year old was on the balcony crying for her dad. He is an alcoholic, who was mentally and physically abusive to me during our 4 year marriage. He is a 36 year old full time college student, who doesn't work (not at all). He was arrested on felony endangerment and abandonment, and we went to court about his visitation. He lost all visitation through a temp. restraining order, and was only allowed 2 hrs. of supervised a month. He was also ordered to attend parenting classes. He is trying to take me back to court now (6 months later) to get full visitation rights back. He claims to have finished his parenting class. What should I do. I am scared if the courts allow visitation, it will happen again, and the children will be hurt, or something worse will happen
