I don't really want to be "friends", I've been out with other girls...but I keep thinking about HER. Is this ever going to end? I'm getting sick of it.

A few days ago I posted a problem about my youngest cousin and some serious stress she'd been under, the problem was two-fold the first part was her school which i've stepped in on.The second part apparently is me.My job means that I have to travel alot (I work at sea) and i'm rarely at home for more than 3 weeks, but I have a very close bond with my family, especially my youngest cousin.According to her mother her depressive traumatised state reoccurs everytime I leave. To me this is a real problem,I keep in contact as much as possible while i'm away but the knowledge that I am the cause of her problems tears me up inside, especially when she's normally so happy.I really don't know what to do,can anyone suggest a way I might help her?
School problems I can handle but I can't fix what's inside her head.

I flatshare with the a man i work with and since i moved in rumours have spread that we are having an affair. people have got quite rude about it and yesterday my boss phoned to ask me if it was true i was pregnant?. I told him no this isnt true as well as making clear im not having an affair with my co worker. my problem is i could lose my job my boss doesnt allow people in a relationship to work together and even though we have a purely platonic relationship i think this latest nasty rumour may cost me my job. can i do anything legally to defend myself as opposed to attacking these people violently which is how im beginning to feel im going to react soon. this has gone on for nearly a year!

I don't get it. I've met some really nice girls here, but having made it clear from the outset that sex between us would be wrong (especially as we hadn't even met!), they've become very distant and our seemingly good friendship has all but ended. Having said that, I'm so grateful for the friends I do have. Surely friendships shouldn't have to be such hard work, should they?

I started to IM this lady about three years ago when I lived in California, I moved to the same state she lives in about two years ago. I have found her on myspace & yahoo personals, I also have her on my IM Friends list. Every time I try to contact her she either doesn't respond or she always has to get off (never seems to want to talk to me). I get up this monring and she left an off line message asking me "why haven't you ever ask me out?" I think she is attractive and I use to love talking to her when we did...?

I saw an episode of Independent Lens on PBS recently. It was on Rap Music (which I'm not a fan of). However, it posed an interesting idea as it relates to rappers and the mindset that you have to be "hard" to the world in order to be taken seriously, in order to be taken as a man.
That made me wonder, what do other cultures think "being a man" is? What do I think? What do you fine people on YA think? Does society value certain traits that you don't?
Tell me YA, What makes a man?

my boyfriend is the guitar player in a band. They played at the bar this past weekend. A group of girls started chanting, "Take it off! Take it off! Take it off!" so he took off his shirt and continued playing guitar. I got mad at him. Was I overreacting, or within my rights to be upset?

I have found out that they are in contact several times a week, and occassionally he will drop by to visit her. When I try to discuss how this makes me feel, He gets very angry with me. I have asked that he stop hidding the phone calls and start letting me know when he plans on going over there. I don't think this is asking to much, but he says I am being controlling. We have been dating for two years, and this problem has been going on most of the time. I am tired of not knowing what is going on, and I am tired of the secrets. I like him a lot, but I dont think anything is going to change. I could use some advice.

I'm getting the sense that the guy I'm seeing is seeing other people, or hanging out with women at the least. He works at a strip club and I often find him hanging there on his days off. When he first got the job there, he said all the guys that work there are trying to get involved with some of the dancers and they hang around at the bar to watch them even when they (the guys) aren't working. He said he'd never do that. Now, he'll say he's just having a drink on his days off. I straight out asked him was he seeing one of the dancers or anyone else for that matter and he got mad. What's wrong with being straightforward instead of guessing and being all shocked when your suspicions are right (or wrong). I'm happy he said no, but why did he get all mad?
