resource creation perspective and for employing out of work people and getting a reduction in green house gases and natural habitats as bonus'. It could be done by having banks givening low intrest loans to companies to plant the trees and that would be paid back when the trees were cut down and the area they occupied replanted?

They contain Mercury. I don't want to throw them in the trash in case they break. Isn't that bad for the environment?

Let´s assume the worst has come to the worst, electricity is limited and you MUST cut down drastically.
Would you give up on:
-computer?
-tumble dryer?
-iron?
-dishwasher?
-air conditioner?
-TV?
-microwave?
What are you really willing to sacrifice?

I tend to go to parks to read, and I've been approached a few times by large (Canadian I think) geese, sometimes in large packs. So far they have only shown mild interest in me, but they have gotten very close, and I am wondering how best to react in this situation?

A small concrete bollard in my street was recently removed and the sign it carried was put up on a nearby lampost. The sign is roughly square yellow with a black 'H' on it with some black numbers above and below the H itself.
I've seen these signs around for years but i'm curious as to what they are for.
Any ideas?

I mean real trash. -Broken toys-About 50 fill trash bags-1/2 R broken w/ all kinds of moldy food in them-Hugh hills of pooh from the rabbit-all kinds of broken furniture-Her dogs are always using the bathroom in my yard-she puts more trash out everyday-most of it's been O/S for more then 1 year.
We have knock on her door about 20x‘s, and she does not answer. U can hear her children yelling "Mom it's the lady who lives next door". So we know she is home, just not answering the door.
I don’t what to call children services, she seems like a good mother, just lazy with the cleaning of the outside. IDK what the I/S is like.
I have to look at it everyday, when I set on my porch, that is all I see. When I drive in and out of my drive way, roll up the windows b/c it’s bad odor. W/ the nice weather, if I open my window I pray to god that the wind don’t blow this way.
It’s totally gross.
I am Asking, what would you do, Or who would you call? Is this like a health code or something?

I was 15 and my boyfriends dad came home so I had to jump out the window and my boyfriend didn't throw my pants or underware out and he close the window. But his dad caught as anyways.
He said, "all I could see was this big round white *** running down the road."
Thank god my boyfriend came driving down the street like 15 min. later with my pants.
Now that really gave new meaning to frezze your *** off!

Say there was an illness that flushed across part of the globe, say there were major floods or earthquakes, say a giant volcano errupted in the middle of a metropolis, maybe a couple nukes go off? But say somehow a large chunk of every major population across the globe was simply cut by a little more than half, 60%. Do you think the planet would benefit from not having so many people clamoring for it's resources and developing on top of its natural landscapes?? Along those lines, perhaps human beings would be better able to put aside their differences and get along?

What do you think would happen? Would there be any long-term benefits after the short-term recovery from the plagues and disasters?
