Should humanity mine resources, interfere and inhabit Antarctica, or should we leave it be and leave it untouched?

KM, I did NOT ask you to recommend me a trip to Antarctica, I merely asked a simple question that requires some common sense and an opinion.

Thank you!

I think it will come down to it to where we will have to go in & interfere. But I think we should only use it as a last option

Antarctica is already over-exploited. It's too bad we didn't let it remain pristine and untouched. While the scientific community has made important strides in its work there, it has also left its own blight on that wondrous continent. The WORST thing that can happen is for 'governments' to get involved. KEEP GOVERNMENT OUT OF IT. Government will only screw things up. -RKO- 05/19/07

Antartica is a political hotspot as there are parts that are still unclaimed....... Greenpeace started their own country or nation while campaigning down there.
Why not trade tax free and overwrite copywrite laws by having data rerouted through antartica?
Well with global warming its looking less likely we'll be doing anything there...
Although Antartica has gotta be the coolest adress to have on your business cards.........

I can anwser that in one word, NO. Look at where we have caused this planet already, and now instead of working on replacing fossil fuels, you want to find more in antartica. It would absolutley stupid for any goverment to go and mine there.

A recent environmental report suggests that if there were any greenhouse gases emitted in antarctic, it would severely hasten global climate change.

We should leave it alone. We have to have some untouched places in the world. Besides, it's freezing there!!! BRRR!!
