that we have enough technology that a satelitte can view the front page of a news paper from space but we do not have efficient enough soloar panels to power cars or homes sufficiently. What gives?

I am 25 and am no longer working but I have this burning desire to go to Africa or somewhere to help make a difference... I know, I know start in your own backyard. But I have done that and I want to do more. My heart has always been with kids so even a children's hospital in southern California where I live would be a good place to start. Any ideas?

Hit me the other day because I had already ask her nicely to get off the computer and phone and do her report for school- After about 10 times asking her - I got up to unplug the everything- she got angry and hit me in the face and pulled my hair- She called me names and I had her pack her some stuff to go to her grandmas - I told her to just live there- and to call me when she grows up- Now she wants to come back home- I o miss her - But I cannot take being beat on by my own daughter- We both are like 130 pounds. she is strong- but i will not fight her - never - but should i let her come back home? she has only been living with me for 3 months now - for the last four years - she has been living temporaril;y with the grandparents because of domestic violence issues. I got her back - then this- I feel like a failure- all i wanted her to do was her report- which she ended up doing in 20 minutes at grandmas- I should probably let her stay at grandmas for a while huh??? Thanks

In previous generations it seems like the people had something to say and were going to say it no matter what the cost. But today it seems like the younger generation doesn't care about whats going on around them and if they do they aren't saying anything.

I want to know how many people out there care about their environment and the world around them (global warming, the war in iraq, starving people everywhere, genocide in Africa) and I want to know what they want to see happen, what they want to do about it, and how they are going to make an effort.

If you don't care then we don't want to hear from you.

7 years ago I told people in the Netherlands that they were all gonna get their feet wet ,and they called me insane ,

Now 7 years later I was wandering if the sea had risen at all or if they think it is going to ,

How will they cope ?half the country is below sea level ,and they cant keep raising the dykes for ever

We usually can find the refills at Home Depot, but as of right now they are not available there. My husband builds model airplanes really needs these refills in order to complete his plane. He does not need the mask, just the screw on refills.

I live in wisconsin and saw a small bird of prey, about the size of a crow, that was gray and the bottom of it's wings, and underside were white. It was eating insects. I am trying to figure out what type of bird it was.

I am asking because yesterday there was a power cut where I lived and the electricity was off for 5 hours and I was sitting at him thinking "shoot" no tv, no lighting, no computer, no heating.. So I went out for a drive until it was all resolved...

Then the same thing happened today due to the adverse weather conditions. I had lighting and power, but no heating or hot water for about ten hours... the company could not resolve the problem which affected most of the area in which I live and so there is a generator sitting outside the properties providing electricity now as they cannot find the fault.

I just hate feeling so reliant upon needing gas and electricity because when it goes you are kind of stuck... It's strange as when I was on holiday in Uganda in February, I spent most of my time there in darkness as electricity supply was sporadic... maybe I should get solar power.. !!

Anyone else get cheesed of with this over reliance??

our ant lions when we moved into our house. If you use pesticides, you probably don have any. We don't so we have them all around our house and we never have a problem with ants. I will dig up a few to get someone started if they don't use pesticides. If you see funnel shaped holes there may be an ant lion there. The ant crawls across falls in and is lunch for the ant lion. It sure beats poison. They seem to like sandy soil best. So check. Do you have any ant lions?
