See, in science class we're having a debate. In this debate my team is in favor of Geothermal energy, and the opposing team is in favor of Hydroelectric power (we did not pick). But they have pretty smart people and my team is going to need some defending facts. Could you guys help me throw down some disadvantages (support it) for Hydroelectric energy? And also, help me find some defending facts for when they throw some back at us. Also, I caught two of their disadvantages for us.. it's that if it rains, then we wouldn't be able to work geothermal power, and that we would not be able to use it for decades if something happens.. i forgot haha. But if you could help me just a wee bit I'd be thankful. :)

I took a drive to my mom's house (400+ miles) using 10% ethanol there and regular gas on the way back and there was about a 10% difference in mileage (29 vs 32).

It takes more 10% ethanol to go the same distance. So am I putting out more emissions per mile?

This was a campaign started by former First Lady "Lady" Byrd Johnson in the '70s. You see posted signs in areas where supposedly groups and organizations make a commitment to clean that area, yet I still see accumulated trash and litter all the time, even in my own neighborhood. Shouldn't we get back to "Keeping America Beautiful'?

I live in Toledo, Ohio and it seems that on my way home from work I always get stuck behind a car that is burning oil, or has some disgustion black smoke coming out of its exhaust pipe. It smells horrible and can not be good for the environment. What can I do? If I report them to the police or the EPA, will they do anything about it?

It is safe and clean energy. We'd only have to build 400-something plants to get 100% of our energy needs met.

Coal mining kills miners. Oil causes wars. Solar is just in its infancy.

Nuclear power has a pristine safety record here in America. (Don't use Chernobyl as an example-- the Soviets half-a s s everything and their technology sucked and still does.)

So how come nothing's been built since the 70's?

There is a safe way to store the waste as well.
