with all the best intentions in the world i try not to leave the tap on , but some times old habits die hard , and i find my self realising that i have left it on when i have just finished ( and with a muttering of expletives ) then its turned off, and the thought "next time" runs through my head , i would say 80% of the time i remember to do so though

I don't leave the tap running. I fill a little Dixie cup up with water and rinse when I'm finished. I was always taught that it's wasteful to leave the water running---not to save the environment, but to keep the water bill low.

Nope. Not only does it promote water conservation, but I'm more likely to brush for a longer period if the water is off. I also turn the water off when I cleanse my face (I use a 30 second cleansing program, linked below). BTW people are supposed to brush their teeth for up to 2 minutes at a time, with a very soft toothbrush, and once through 'Happy Birthday' is about 15 seconds.

Yes, I live in a 40 year old house that has lead in the pipes so it is good to let it run for 30 seconds or more before drinking the water.

No I wet my toothbrush and clean my teeth and don't turm on tap again until it's time to rinse. Everyone in the house does the same even our 4 year old.
In our house we do all we can to save water as we do not like to waste water, we are on a water meter so that helps us prserve the water supply.

What for? Leaving the taps running is like throwing money in the toilet.

Yes, I do. I also run the tap for a minute before I start. I don't really want to brush my teeth in water that has been stagnating in the pipes, thank you!
