My school just dumps everything in the same garbage bin! But, they claim that there is some type of system that the city has which sorts all recyclables from garbage....
Are they lying??
If this is false what can I do to stop them?

I went to make local power company and bought about 60 eco friendly bulbs.... they were a steal brought them home excited to start on my Greener lifestyle .... when my husband said that he refused to put them in because they are mercury based (there is an extrememly small label on them explain this) and there is no safe way or green way of disposing of them without polluting the ground and if one breaks in your home it can be very toxic. He is a green fiend and reads about this stuff all the time ...... but is this really true? Does anyone have anymore info on this?

Why is the gross national product (GNP) an inaccurate indicator of a nation’s economic status? How is it corrected by the net national product (NNP)?

Have you changed the way you do things to help the fight against global warming? When did you start and what made you want to make a difference? What do you think about global warming? Do you think it is as serious as they are saying?

I think it would be a easily exploitable source of revanue , plus cohesivley saving tons of tress from being cut down sence its replacing trees as the only sorce of paper .

Papyrus has i know a better future than tree cultivation sence a cut down tree is a 40 -60 even more year loss while papyrus plant gross fast like a weed and whenit is cut its only a 2 week loss ! (or something close too it i guess ! )

Living in theend times with lobal warming getting worse every day with no end in sight of reducing the eeffcets of it much less fixing thed amage that already exists and even more un heard of , of a way of avoiding this from happening agin !

So consideing all of the mentioned above im sure the modern day consumer would be more than happy to lend a helping hand by buying a alternative more eco freindly way of making paper (papyrus) and buy papyrus products instead of products like paper that come from trees.

Please excuse the bad spelling !

P:S thank youfor read

Mercury is one of the most toxic substances known to man. Flourescent light fixtures are made with mercury. It seems like just trading one problem for another. Disposal of flourescent lights would surely mean mercury would seep into the ground water.

Every 24 hours, rainforest is cut down at such rate that the amount of CO2 released is more than what 8 million people would produce flying from London to New York.

So why, instead of banging on about 'carbon footprints' and 4x4's are envioronmentalists not putting their full weight behind campaigns to conserve and protect the 'lungs of the world'?

Considering that we all need the rainforest to survive, why aren't rich nations buying it up and stopping the logging? The people in these countries need to be better off leaving the forest as it is.

I have a new energy efficient air condition with a top of the line air cleaner, even though it's suppose to be the most environmentally friend AC unit now, what can I do to help keep my energy cost down and keep my house cool enough?

I also have to have 1 window unit for my second story due to the structure of my house, and the current temperature is at 74 degrees for the AC.

Not only do I want to help the environment, but also saving money is always nice.

Being environmentalist, we mainly concern with the the environmental effects of energy sources. But what if its not economically feasible.

Please guide me if anyone has gone through any such report.
thanks

And yes, I'm quite aware of the fact that newspapers take trees, but I think the good it could do would outweigh the use of natural resources it took, plus they could plant trees to offset the use of paper, and there's the fact that trees are renewable resources at least.
