Facts - not opinion, not fearmongering. Just Hard Cold Facts.
In absence of facts, it is nothing more than a political movement.

That is an EXTREMELY complex problem. The main thing environmentalists seem to ignore is economics. They just don't care how expensive something is. That just say we should force people to use expensive methods by law and totally ignore the impact to people that causes. They over estimating the damage to the environment caused by traditional technology and under estimate the damage to people's lives caused by forcing them to give up dirtier technology for cleaner but more expensive technology.
So the environmental movement needs some fiscal responsibility. Don't try to legislate expensive solutions, foster appropriate, economically viable solutions.

We need to incorporate the loss of environment as a cost and the price of its replacement as a financial liability within the GNP. In other words, we need to put a price on all things currently treated as 'free and fair game,' therefore, not accountable for in the Gross National Product. Things like the air we breathe, the water we drink, the soil we grow our food in, and most importantly, the imbalance we create of all things natural without regard or responsibility.

Unfortunately, in order to get accross to a lot of Americans, it must have a sexy spin on it to really drive awareness. Celebrities are great, and there certainly are enough of them backing the green movement, and it is becoming trendy, but to really catch on it needs some sex appeal. Strange but true.

The balance between three things: food / water supply, modern convenience and CO2 emissions is one item that must exist. (There are too many to name in one little posting)
As we advance as a society we need to feed and make available clean water to our population. This often takes energy that is also used for modern conveniences such as cars, aircraft, air conditioning, etc. I think one (of many) key is to find methods of producing energy that minimize carbon outputs AND minimize ecological damage (like NOT injecting CO2 into caves underground).

We MUST educate our children. It is very hard to change the habits and patterns of adults...but put this information into the hands of children and we can truly change the future!
