Mayra P,
That is a very good question.
I hope you don't panic, because the answer is that we cannot stop global warming. It's a natural process that the earth is going through.
Many thousands (perhaps millions) of years ago, there were glaciers well into the United States. Science proves that within a reasonable doubt. Now they have receded, because the earth has been warming. This all started long before there were humans.
We do have some effect, but we are only a minor part of the process. And that's my logical opinion.
p.s. The Glaciers were caused by an Ice Age and some day that might happen again. Then people could worry about global cooling.

It is absolutely impossible to stop global warming, but it is possible to slow the trend down. Primarily, we need to recognize that humans are both the biggest threat AND the greatest promise that the current environment has. If we don't stop overproduction of emissions from developed countries, we can expect to see drastic changes in the environment. Drastic as in the changes between the era of the dinosaurs and the current mammalian/ avarian population. I do not have enough arrogance to assume that our planet can be destroyed, but it is fact that it can go through cataclysmic changes that will make current human population impossible. Of course, humans will just be replaced by another superior creature.
To better answer your specific question, reduce consumption of all things- this means that we need to buy less Starbucks, Domino's, and Hummers. Buy only those things that you truly need, and consider the company's attitude towards the environment.
I drive an inexpensive, low mileage car, and I plan on driving it for as long as it is safe and environmentally wise. We should not be defined by what we drive.
I also take my own canvas bags when I go food shopping, avoid fast food, and recycle everything!!
Saving our environment, one day at a time...
Keep Green!!!

Well sadly there is no way to STOP global warming. However there are lots of things each of us can do to slow it down. Conserving energy is one simple way that even kids can do. Recycling is another factor that everyone can take part in doing. For so long we have made little attempts to conserve so what we really need to do is develop ourselves to a new way of thinking about conservation first and not just taking everything for granted. These 2 things are small steps but the impact can be enormous if more of us do our part. Yes just our part and even better if we do more than our part!

Well, first of all, there should be another good alternative to fuel or oil than just petroleum, becuase petroleum is actually affecting the environment more bad than good because they have to ship it out on big fuel consuming trucks that have low mpg's and in other ways too. Second, the little things matter way more than you think they may, such as smoking and using sticides. Those hurt the atmosphere very badly too and are a big contributer to global warming.

We probably can't. I believe it's related to sunspots. During the 200-300 years of the "Little Ice Age" around1400-1650, give or take a little, there were almost no sunspots. When there are more, the planet gets warmer.
That doesn't mean we can't adapt to it. Maybe we can mitigate it some by reducing co2 levels, and maybe not. I distrust those who say co2 is the culprit because it sooo politically convenient.
I think the gov't should require more efficient houses and give us tax breaks for building them. Also, tax breaks for using geo-thermal, solar panels, etc.

You cant stop global warming but you can do things to slow down the process. Reserve electricity and use environmental safety products.

Well its already happening so there is no exact way to "stop" it but we can help it not get any worse by using those energy savers light bulbs, turning the power off as much as possible!! not littering! stop using aeisole cans, less toxic gas fumes around, we should really do something about these factories also!

Not possible...natural occurrence. We can help alleviate the process by being more "green", but it's still going to happen. Unless we find a way to control nature, it's inevitable.

tell politicos that they can't talk about it anymore, this will reduce temps in the greater DC area by 10% due to the sudden drop in CO2
