Please consider the robot far advanced from what is available today.
Why would you pick the one you did?

If robots are that advanced then by then you will have dogs that have human genes in them and then sand cant get into a dogs main frame and make it malfunction like a robot, and then the dog can relay the message back to humans through a sort of sign language. Flesh is more reliable then metal. And also dogs are always willing to put their lives on the line, and since people wont stop breeding them they will be happy to be of some use then just get to sit in cages and die without knowing the taste of outside.

It depends on how decating the city is. The robot would be good if there are still other cities in the world and you don't have to stay there for a long time. Also it wouldn't put the dog in danger.
However if the whole world would be that way I would rather have the dog so that I had someone to be with and could have a friend.

Why would I want to venture into a decaying city. Even far advanced into the future, disease would be rampant in that city. Too dangerous for a human and a dog.
I would send a robot into the city and get information before deciding to go there myself with or without a dog.

Probably a dog because a robot would need gas or some other type of fuel to operate. A dog would be able to consume just about anything left over that humans wouldn't be able to dispose of. This would help in preventing litter.

A Robot and why you ask because decay means to rott, fester,spoil. A dog is a spirit too that has feelings a robot only uses commands and has no type of feelings, no life there.

I would take the dog. Advanced robots may interfere with my SIM card.

robot ,,if it were far asvanced then it can do all the things a dog could do except get hurt and run out of energy this is the only reason i would choose it
