If I know anything about guns, and I know something... The answer would be: probably. Accuracy issues barred, it would ultimately depend on the distance. I guarantee that if the shooter walks up to a deer, puts the weapon to it's head and pulls the trigger, that you'll have a pierced deer skull. I'm not going to guarantee that it'll go all the way through... (I doubt it will. For that, as they say, get a .22.) Like I said though, it's all about the distance. I'm no expert on deer, but I believe they have a thicker skull than a human. In all honesty, I'm no expert and I'm spouting conjecture.

I'm not saying the shooter should go pop a cap in a deer's head. Hunting is fine and dandy, but if the shooter wishes to pop off some nine millimeter rounds into something that shows how penetration looks, buy a ballistics gel kit! It's fun, and provides you with some awesome looking stuff

a nine millimeter is overkill that will most definitely stop a dear but may destroy the skull not just piece it.

Of course the rifling on a 9 millimeter is not that accurate to be aiming at a deer from a distance.

It would be a lot better to use a rifle.

Dears have some of the weakest mammalian skulls. Blunt objects shot at hight speeds can pierce the skull. This is one of the reasons deer are so commonly hunted
