I am int he jackson mississippi metro area - i have seen it as high as 2.99 and as low as 2.77.
I hope it goes down again. there is really no sense for it to be this high. It is a plot from the oil companies. - I am tired of hearing the Katrina excuse. That was 2 years ago. Yes we are still rebuilding but we have also moved on.

$2.76 is the lowest I've seen today. I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. It'll go down some after peak travel time is over and the downed oil plants/refineries are back up and running. Probably come down some in the next month or two. I doubt it will go any lower than $2.00 ever again, maybe not even $2.25.
Here's an article about averages and refinery problems and futures http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/gas_prices
"Despite prices at the pump climbing past the $3 mark, analysts have said the inventory fears can only go so far, as evidenced by recent declines in oil and gas futures. Retail prices generally lag the futures markets, so consumers can end up paying more for gas even as futures prices drop.
Gasoline futures for June delivery have dropped in the last week, falling 3.12 cents Friday to settle at $2.2164 a gallon on the New York Mercantile Exchange."

I'm on the opposite side of the state from you (St. Joseph) and I paid $3.49 a gallon today. Frickin' $40.00 to fill up!
I've listed two interesting sites bellow that break out the average cost of gas regionally and then state-by-state. It's pretty interesting actually. Minnesota (go figure) and Texas are paying the least with an average of $2.83 at the pump. California and Michigan are getting hit hard with the average right around $3.40. The best place to by gas is Houston at just $2.82 a gallon.
This time last year gas was $0.15 less and it was a dime cheaper just last week.
The forecast is for gas to settle around $3.65 over the summer months and slide to $3.40-3.30 by early fall.
How is it that we invade Iraq and end up paying more for gas? That's like invading Ireland and ending up with less beer.
To much information? lol

MIA - I've seen anything from 2.99 to 3.44
lower prices towards the city and on the coast lines the higher prices, of course is driven cause of the tourist
*** I think it can go down, first we need to stop the insanity of the war and also pass some legislaion that helps us become more energy efficent as a Country and that prevents the freaking oil companies from driving up the prices at their will, caue I don't know if you all have heard but all the big oil co. have had the biggest profit margins in years.
So some how there is something that doesn't add up....

I live in Ponca City, Ok and gas went from $3.14 Thurs afternoon to $3.39 by mid morn Fri. The paper here is predicting that it mat go up another .15 to .20 before it starts to come down, but where I live I doubt it as Conoco has a refinery here and also built a $5,000,000 museum to honor themselves. So I guess they have to pay for it. They are also building a $5,000,000 museum in Bartlesville, Ok to honor Phillips 66.

In No. California, gas price is over $3.50.
It is not likely to go down since those that have oil know that when they run out of oil, they will be like Bangladesh.
They have plenty of money, one small country with a lot of oil is buying the largest fleet of the largest airplanes for sale. They also have the largest number of super-sized hangars, each can hold two of the world's largest passenger planes, air-conditioned, of course.
One bought a large plastic manufacturer this week.
They will need money if they wish to survive after the oil is gone. By the way, if you divide the total oil production by the number of people in the world, the peak (per capita) oil production was reached in 2006.
Gasoline price will go up, which is the most effective way to fight Global Warming. It's not all bad. But, we would be better off if we had high gasoline taxes, like they have in Europe. We would get to keep and invest the tax revenues, instead of sending all that money overseas.

In Phoenix, it ranges from $3.05 to 3.15 per gallon. It might be cheaper in another part of the city, but I live in the Southwest part of the city. Plus, any corner that has a station on each side, the price is all the same. So how is this competition? Might as well be one provider of gas. I don't see it going down to soon.

3.09 a gallon in Central MS. I don't think we will ever see the good ol' days of $1 something gas and 99cent gas again. The American public proved that it will pay whatever the companies want to charge. Until the government steps in to regulate prices,we are screwed.

I don't think it will go down. The big oil companies want us to think that $3.00 a gallon is a good deal.....would you have thought you would be thinking 2.75 would be a very good deal!
I live in the northern panhandle of West Virginia, between Columbus, OH and Pittsburgh, PA, and gasoling is about 3.09 a gallon!
