As the temperature has risen, and the data clearly shows that man made greenhouse gases are mostly responsible, most global warming skeptics have abandoned the ideas that;

Global warming isn't real.

It's just a natural cycle.

The Sun is the cause.

Richard Lindzen, John Christy, Bjorn Lomberg, and George Bush are all examples of prominent skeptics who now acknowledge the basic facts.

They all think it's less of a problem than the large majority of scientists think, and I disagree with that. But none of them takes the extreme positions of the deniers.

Yet the extreme positions of denial are still advanced here.

Is it time for those who claim the extreme versions of denial (the big three are above) to be relegated to the same place as those who think the Earth is 6000 years old or that we didn't land men on the moon?

Is it time for the debate to be focused on what we should do about it? World leaders seem to agree on that.

It's well established now both that global warming is a very real international crisis akin to the threat of nuclear holocaust in its end result, and the threat is increasing with every day, and every plane taken by every traveller, and every car taken down the road. .. and every golf course that uses water that spreads fertilizer and pesticide around the near countryside, when the land could be returned to native trees for more oxygen for us all, and for birds to in turn help promote growth of more trees elsewhere.

People travel across the world just to see 'beautiful nature' and go hiking amongst the trees in New Zealand - more than the number of people who go there to play golf - so for local tourist opportunities in other countries too, it makes sense to plant more trees, and reduce, reuse and recycle old golf courses.

Save the world! Reclaim your local golf course for nature, the birds, the trees, and oxygen for you and your grandchildren to breath, now!

How about a list of names of those who lost their jobs and their AGW leanings.

Just how much water does a tree evaporate?
How much does the oceans?
Given that only the surface of a body of water evaporates.
Would an acre of trees evaporate more than an acre of water?
Is it a hugely significant difference?
Time for real math.
Million?? Way more??? Acres of trees gone.
Trillions??? Way more??? Less water evaporating.
Hmmm... Did we screw up the earths water cycle?
Maybe its time for a new text book.
Earth's water cycle only needs buildings and roads to work properly. Who thought all those trees were needed?
Page 52 shows only skyscapers are needed for the cycle to work right. So what happened?
Cut em down. Cut em all down.
Those darn trees are killing us.

Do your part. Get a chainsaw, and lets eliminate this problem.

No, I am not a dedicated tree hugger. I'm just popping out ideas. If i'm way off base just say so.
But the tree idea leaves a lot to look out.
How much water can a tree evaporate??????
If more water was in the atmosphere would it be cooler?
When it rains, its cooler. So more rain more better, right?
Would a highly saturated atmosphere create a cooler planet? Wouldnt this so called sun shield stop the suns energy from engaging the earth in the first place.
Given the current situation of our planet. I think we need more water in the atmosphere, which used to come from trees. In the past, Earth was fine and doing quite well. Until when???
How come ice is disappearing? Is it a lack of water up there? My guess, less water vapor, less ice deposits at the poles. Is it as simple as that? Certainly it cant be too hard to figure out how to replace a billion??? trees worth of water evaporation.
We should update all the science book pictures.
Trade trees 4 roads and see the water cycle

Referencing Part 1. Concrete, houses, buildings whatever. If its not a tree, Its not helping the water cycle. The earth did quite fine until bright eyes decided to annihilate a major ingredient in the water cycle, the tree. Look at em, just standing there. Helpless. Typical human response, lets kill it.
Well now that we chopped em all down, does it matter? Check out some sat maps. Huge areas of trees are gone. Every city everywhere has traded the water evaporating cooling tree for some heat absorbing concrete or other. Isnt it hotter in the city as opposed to the shade of the country trees?
How much water can a tree evaporate? Its cooling effect? Then compare that to a building or road.
Remember to calculate for a million trees and a million miles of roads. Is that a billion trees??????
So lets see.
Store the water.
Cut down the trees.
Build supersized heat absorbers.
Create vast unknown amounts of heat.
Lastly add the dreaded CO2.
Interesting project.
But not here.

help stop the global warming ??

2007-10-01 15:50:45 · 16 answers · asked by gordooo2 6 in Global Warming

Q1: If all the water disappeared. The planet would be a desert and temperatures would increase. Life would be over. Yes?

Q2: If half the water disappeared. The planet would still probably become hot and life would drop off. Yes also?

Theory: Cut down a billion trees. Store some (some as in trillions of gallons) water for each and every human and animal and all the processes they need. Think long and hard on where the water is, and how much. In place of trees lets put down some concrete. Some concrete would be (help me with the math here.) an unknown super amount???? Concrete is a heat sink. So is asphalt, but probably more. Anyway, My point is we are storing in some form or another bookoo amounts of water. This water is not available to the atmosphere (earth's water cycle). Between heat sinks, trapping water and creating our own heat, from factorys, people, animals and the dreaded CO2. Only in the last 100 or less years we have altered the system. Our system is set.
???????

What, or who was responsible?

2007-10-01 13:01:08 · 12 answers · asked by vote_usa_first 7 in Global Warming

I'm always puzzled by this. We know gasoline is precious and limited, whereas water is semi-precious and reuseable. Yet it matters to save water or else in the future we may have shortages due to population growth, or global warming.

So if water is sort-of-precious and must be saved, why are home and residential distribution systems so that we drink the same water as we use to water the garden or to take a bath (grey water)? Shouldn't houses have TWO grades of water ie two parallel plumbing systems?
Adding the 'grey pipe' on older houses seems kind of late to do cost-effectively now, but can we still do this on newer houses? Would it be worth? Imagine how cheaper it is for a plant to produce grey water, very little filtering needed.
Am I the first one to think about this?...
