You may recycle aluminum, copper & metals for money: cans, old aluminum or metal siding, stoves, refrigerators, cars. You may also consign old clothing or unused shoes - as long as everything is in good shape & desirable - to consignment/resale shops. If you donate your items & do a Schedule A - Itemized deductions - on your tax form, you may deduct the value of donations - $8.00 -$10.00 or so for a shirt etc. It adds up very quickly! See Salvation Army Valuation Guide. Old paper pays money but you must have a huge amount of it. Please remember to recycle glass jars/bottles, cardboard and PARTICULARLY plastic bottles. You can do that for free since taxpayers already foot the bill on that program. Call the Solid Waste District in the county which you live for more info. Happy recycling!

you can also recycle all other scrap metals. Pick up old a/c units on the side of the road, cut out the coil. that could be a quick ten bucks depending on the size. Radiators, scrap aluminum, copper (wire, old gutters, copper pipe, flashing. there is very expensive metals inside catalytic converters too. you could save scrap iron but you'd have to have a huge truck it's only around $20 a metric ton.

In many communities, you can recycle aluminum cans(think sodas) and glass bottles. Consult your local recycler for more specific information relevant to your location.
