It's well established now both that global warming is a very real international crisis akin to the threat of nuclear holocaust in its end result, and the threat is increasing with every day, and every plane taken by every traveller, and every car taken down the road. .. and every golf course that uses water that spreads fertilizer and pesticide around the near countryside, when the land could be returned to native trees for more oxygen for us all, and for birds to in turn help promote growth of more trees elsewhere.

People travel across the world just to see 'beautiful nature' and go hiking amongst the trees in New Zealand - more than the number of people who go there to play golf - so for local tourist opportunities in other countries too, it makes sense to plant more trees, and reduce, reuse and recycle old golf courses.

Save the world! Reclaim your local golf course for nature, the birds, the trees, and oxygen for you and your grandchildren to breath, now!

No - not yet. No one in the world is able to tell us if it will be warmer next year or the year after and show us how they came to their conclusion.

Saying that there's warming is like flipping a coin. You have equal chances of being right.

"Global Warming" is just a fad that Eco-fascist use to push their religious beliefs on others. Everyone knows that man is insignificant to have any impact on something as big as the climate, and that the Sun is responsible for all heat on Earth.

I think it was in the 70's we were being told the planet was cooling and we would be going into an ice age! Now they say we are warming. I think it is just a natural cycle of the earth, so lets stop running around like chicken little. I do think we need to recycle and reuse what we can and save as much water and energy as possible.
I do not think eliminating golf courses would be a major solution to the pollution we are doing to the planet. Look at all the green grass areas in large lawns across the planet. I think they should be given up and planted with useful plants and wildflowers for both people and the wildlife. I think if the people with large yards did this it would help save gas that it takes to mow and also eliminate the fertilizers that are used to keep the lawns "weed free", and if the plants that are native to the area, they use less water as well.

When will computers be made illegal throughout the world? It's well established now both that global warming is a very real international crisis akin to the threat of nuclear holocaust in its end result, and the threat is increasing with every day, and every computer uses lots of plastic, silver, lead and other polluting substances. Computers require the use of electricity, electricity that is generated by burning coal, which is depleting the ozone layer. Save the world! Take your computer to the recycle center (you should walk to get there), and never buy another one. While you are at it, no more athletic shoes, they use paints and plastics, no more clothes because the dyes contain petroleum products, no more food because the tractors use fossil fuels, as do the trucks that transport the food. If you want to save the world, the best thing to do is to not consume anything at all, just walk naked into the forest, don't eat or drink anything and waste away until you become one with nature.

I used to dislike cemetaries and golf courses. Now I recognise them to be valuable open spaces. Golf courses will cease to exhist when old jocks, both male and female , find something to obsess about other than putting balls in holes with sticks. Women who participate in the LPGA have a higher incidence of leukemia. Much like the pets who play on chemically treated lawns. Canadian geese love the courses, much to the dismay of golfers who step in the results of humans altering the landscape. We change the environment and then complain about the unforseen results. The greatest help for the world is to remain childless. I have and so has my husbands and wives.

Going to the extreme and eliminating things like golf courses is not the answer. Questions such as this only hurt the struggle against global warming. Be more practical and more people will listen to what you have to say.

Maybe you should try and golf first before you say anything about tearing down and giving the land back to nature. Golf is a very relaxing sport that everyone should try.

I agree. Golf courses are probably one of the most serious threats New Zealand has ever had to deal with.

Have you ever seen the tonnage of grass clippings generated by a golf course every month? Were do you think all of that carbon in the biomass comes from? I don't think trees generate more carbon annualy than the turf of golf course, there is a problem with your logic.

The sooner the better. To waste all that space and water, a diminishing resource, for the benefit of a few is criminal.

I think if you are really worried about it go to India or China and stop them from polluting so much. Just because you let the media scare the hell out of you KEEP IT TO YOURSELF
