I am aware of AGW skeptics losing their jobs because of their position on AGW. I am not aware of any AGW activists losing their jobs.

How about a list of names of those who lost their jobs and their AGW leanings.

My hope was to get a step past the comments of bestonnet_00 to find out what has happened rather than speculation and innuendo.

Oregon and Virginia have had recent battles when their governors disagreed with the position of their skeptical state climatologists. It appears that Patrick Michaels has been forced from his position in Virginia. In Oregon, George Taylor will probably lose his title. Whether his job is in danger remains to be seen.
In Washington state, the assistant state climatologist, Mark Albright, has lost his title (not job) after a row with his boss. He had publicly criticized the state climatologist, Philip Mote, for publishing false data to exaggerate the decline in snowfall in the Cascades. Mote, then insisted on filtering Albright's correspondence, which Albright refused. While public criticism of the boss is never without risk, it is not clear how much of this action is office politics and how much is related to differing positions on global warming.

Very few scientists are likely to lose their jobs for a stand on either side of the AGW debate. Most academics have tenure and cannot be removed however goofy their beliefs may become.

A skeptic is someone who accepts that AGW is happening and given the Bush administration I wouldn't be too surprised if someone was fired for being a skeptic on the topic.

Bush probably wouldn't be firing denialists though, his administration is full of them.

Suppose the head of the Geology Department at Harvard announced that the Earth was 6000 years old, evolution was an unproven theory, and fossils had been created to "test our faith".

Would you expect him to keep his job?

Or suppose Britain's Royal Astronomer announced that NASA had faked the moon landings, and that Man had never walked on the Moon? Same question.

By the way what skeptics "lost their jobs"?

No but I get hard looks at the water cooler sometimes.

Now that Bush has deserted his Denier army I do wonder what will become of them. I figure it's their problem.
