I was curious if anyone had any examples of people doing things that hurt the environment...and could be easily rectified with some simple ways. I wanna hear crazy things...like putting 6pack holders into the ocean.

If anthropogenic Global Warming is false, and there is a conspiracy by scientists to falsify data, with intent to defraud and enslave the population, why haven't the scientists who have comitted these crimes been brought to trial? Dr. James Hansen must be one of the leaders of the conspiracy. He works for NASA, which is under the control of the Executive Branch of the United States Government, and is subject to management by executive order of the President of the United States. The President of the United States has certainly not been an enthusiastic supporter of the idea of AGW. Why hasn't he taken effective action to deal with the conspiracy? Why hasn't the FBI been called in to investigate, as in past cases of fraudulent use of government research funds?

Every so often, global warming doubters make the argument that "warmth is good for life".

This strikes me as a completely brainless argument, because it provides no specifications. Under what conditions is it better for life that the environment be warmer? The suggestion is that life always thrives under warmer conditions, which would suggest that we'd be better off living on the Sun than on Earth. I hope we can all agree that this is a patently stupid suggestion. Obviously at some point (a tipping point, if you will), if the environment gets warmer then life will suffer. It will have a negative net impact on life.

Therefore I ask, can anyone defend the statement "warmth is good for life"? If not, I suggest that people stop using this foolish argument.

You are a foreign minister serving on a global committee in charge of making policies on how to combat global warming. Your committee will be addressing the United Nations with a plan on how to reduce the emissions that cause global warming. There are some that argue against global warming and say global warming is a farce (doesn't really exist). Conduct some research and complete the following:

1. What is global warming? Define it in scientific terms.

2. What are the causes of increased greenhouse gases?

3. What country do you think is the largest contributor to global warming?

4. What types of industry emit the most greenhouse gases?

5. Come up with a minimum of 5 policies to help reduce global warming. Discuss these policies in detail. What will be the penalty if your policies are not followed? These policies can be aimed at both industry and individuals. Consider your own homes and offices, transportation, etc.

6. What is the evidence for those in favor of the idea that global warming is a real process and occurring right now?

7. What is the evidence for those in favor of the idea that global warming is a farce and is not occurring?

8. Do you believe in global warming? Why or why not?

An interesting article in Yahoo Green about this issue:

http://green.yahoo.com/index.php?q=node/1009

The problem is that we can't be sure how much of our coal supplies are realistically extractable. By conservative estimates, we have 77 years of coal reserves left at our current consumption rate.

Of course, our consumption rate has doubled over the past 50 years, but then again, ideally we'll be moving away from coal and toward renewable energy.

I thought this was interesting because many times I've seen people claim that we have hundreds of years of coal reserves left, but this may not be the case.

Thoughts?

Well basically im talking about Global warming. we all know about it. The facts are shoved in our faces everywhere. And even though there are ways to prevent the problems from it getting worse, i dont think that the damage that we have caused will NEVER be reversable. what do u all think? and even though we KNOW that we are killing the planet in some way or another.. will we ever stop until something catastrophic happens to the world until EVERYONE in the world does something major.. thats my opinion anyway.. i also think that humans are making the earths average temperature increase more than it should every year.. but i think there is something else happening which the earth has something to do with it.. i think that we are on our way onto the next ice age... where the earth completely heats up until everything on it dies... then grows back again and then falls back into an ice age.. its like the earths way of rejuvinating itself.. what do u think??

It was bad enough that Hansen took $250,000.00 from John Kerry's foundation, then endorsed the candidate for President.

It was even worse when he said he exaggerated global warming when he was a consultant for Algore's "Truth", "It Could Happen Tomorrow", and the Weather Channel.

Now it's being told he took $720,000.00 from a "politicization of science" program run by George Soros and Moveon.com to make the claim that he was being "muzzled" before the 2004 and 2006 elections.

Hansen is tainted with the rot of politics. He can no longer maintain his position because he has shown he is not objective.

His data, his life’s work is flawed as well and should be tossed or re-evaluated. No doubt he used political pressure and influence to steer "peer review" and the "consensus" of others, if not just out right bought it.

He should be charged with fraud.

Ok so I've come to a conclusion after looking into different things on the earth warming and stuff, and those of you who saw my question earlier, I questioned global warming. My conclusion now is that the earth is always going to change and so of course it may be warming, but not because of us. That is un-realistic. It is just doing it's natural thing of warming which isn't going to hurt anything. Does anybody agree with me on this? I'll respect your opinions if you respect mine. :)
