I want to increase knowledge about global warming. I see that thousands of scientists disagree. Is this correct? If so what percentage of the total is this?

They run on electricity, and that means they don't belch out loads of fumes into the atmosphere.

But that electricity has to be generated in a power station before it can be used in the car, and nine times out of ten, you can be sure that it was generated from fossil fuels.

So surely, electric cars are still responsible for polluting the planet.

I am trying to do my part to save water and energy by using cold water whenever I can for laundry, washing dishes and hands, etc. I also try to prevent wasting water by not letting the sink and bathtub run, and have installed a tankless water heater for near instant hot water. The problem is that my plumbing frequently backs up due to buildup of soap/shampoo/laundry detergent/dishwashing detergent. I've read that flushing the plumbing once a month with large volumes of hot water will help prevent/treat this problem, but that goes against my principles of trying to save energy and water. Does anyone have good ideas for preventing plumbing clogs from soap/detergent buildup, without wasting a lot of energy or water?

"Arctic Ocean sea ice is melting faster than even the most advanced climate change models predict, a new study concludes.

{...}

The team found that, on average, 18 climate models used in a 2007 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) underestimated the extent of sea-ice decline by a factor of three."

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/05/070501-arctic-ice.html

So if the IPCC climate scientist predictions underestimate the rate of arctic ice melting by a factor of 3, how exactly is it accurate to call them 'alarmist'?

According to the counter-documentary to al gore's "an inconvinient truth". Scientists say that the C02 output produced by countries is just a small percentage to whats considered the biggest contributor to c02 namely the big blue oceans..

Here in holland the government is raising the taxes every year on numerous new things they can come up with in name of saving our eco-system, while it isnt sure we are the biggest cause the global warming. Though we do add to it, but not that much..
In parrallel while we (the citizens) still try our best to reduce car usage and cut back on energy consumption and pay for dim-energy saving lights, and they even hand out fines of we don't,
they, the government built 2 extra coal-burning energy-plants.
Wich is one of the dirtiest and most environmental unfriendly but low cost and high energy-productive ways of producing juice for energy consumption..

Do you think governments maybe

The man made global warming alarmists keep lifting icy fingers of fear for the ice. In the Artic region, there's been much made of a warming trend in Alaska that may be a reflection of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation event in 1976-1977. Artic wide, however, there is no impending sign of warming or the ice cap melting.

Still the alarmists and scaremongers insist on trying to convince us otherwise.

Open access paper from PNAS (which means anyone can download it for free):

http://www.pnas.org/cgi/content/abstract/104/39/15248

The paper details using SSM/I data to show atmospheric moisture content has increased and that increase is anthropogenically driven. It makes the specific point that the effects of anthropogenic modification of radiative transfer through the atmosphere are being observed in systems other than global mean temperature.

This is an extremely important result and quite damning for all current contrarian arguments.

I watch with interest the propaganda put out by the government over the last couple of years. Last year was really hot and this was down to global warming. This year is cold and wet, again down to global warming?? We are encouraged to believe that the only way to save the planet is to put a third tax on driving, a tax on parking spaces and a tax on flying otherwise our children will surely drowned, starve or "bake".
I for one find this all a little hard to swallow. Yes it makes good sense for us all to do our bit (recycle, be more energy efficient etc) but this does not involve handing over more hard earned cash to the government of the day. Taxes such as this will simply do more damage to our countries economy making us less and less competative.
The true reason behind global warming is simple that there are too many people on the planet. Perhaps if we tax more a few will leave!!

Nuclear power has the capability to produce great quantities of cheap power 24/7/365 without creating any green house gases.

Nuclear power is very safe, including transporting and storing the waste as this is dome almost everyday without your knowledge.

The USA should be a leader in Nuclear Technology, controlling thee technology and selling cheap, reliable nuclear power to the rest of the world, instead of exporting coal.

Do you also believe in Nuclear Power, and think it's time congress got off their assets to eliminate the barriers needed to build these power plants?
