Again, Mr. Jello... isn't the sharpest salad out of the mold.
Yes there are between 25,000 and 40,000 polar bears in the world, and not all of them are in trouble. They actually exist in six core populations.
In the 1950s their numbers are now thought to have been about the same -- keep in mind though the hunting of them for sport and food was finally coming under control.
It is thought that in the last ten years their population has dived by as much as 17% (please see the links below, including one from NOAA -- unlike Mr. Jello I back up my numbers). The key factor in this is the loss of their hunting platforms -- the ice shelf.
The Northwest Passage is becoming a reality. The trade off for that is polar bears are going to suffer horribly.
Climate change is real, it is here and it is happening in ways we can't even foresee. From those of us trying to do something -- either get on board or get out of the way.

everything is doomed especially jellos they will melt when it gets too hot ,
Animal habitats are in serious trouble all over the globe ,in Mexico recently they have discovered animals they thought had gone extinct, people try to turn this into good news ,but it really means that we have stripped Nature back so far that what was hidden for ages has now become uncovered ,we are getting near the cores .
And many species that before were covered are now open to view ,giving the impression that there are lots ,and their existence is seriously compromised and they wont live very long any more ,the rare species that were found were mostly dying ,changes in Nature that begin at microscopic levels affect everything that follows ,
the Disappearing ice will also upset polar bears breeding cycles everyone talks about them because they are so majestic and beautiful but they are not the only ones who are in trouble
,but they could adapt to the north west territories their diet is flexible ,they can also eat people instead of seals ,a solution to overpopulation perhaps.
Hippos are much harder to relocate ,they need water and what grows in it ,and their habitat is invaded by man or drying up.

yes...within time polar bears will be extinct. Mainly, due to the melting ice caps caused by the increase of temperature of earth (global warming).

I hope not.
But you know, Bush likes global warming, and disappearing ice up around the top of Alaska...it opens up new oil fields.
And if there are polar bears in the way of the drilling, that causes them problems. So the Bushies are happy to see the polar bears become extinct.

Interesting. In 1950 there were 5,000 polar bears, now their numbers are 25,000 and people think they are doomed to extinction soon?
This is why Algore had to use animated polar bears in his movie. There are no bears in distress to film.
