Once again, man made global warming alarmists are wrong. If the (human) Greenhouse Theory proposed by the alarmists were valid concerning man made global warming, temperatures in the Arctic and the Antarctic would have risen several degrees Celsius since 1940 due to the huge emissions of man-made CO2. But the fact that the earth has warmed only slightly since 1940, despite the huge clouds of greenhouse gases emitted from human activities, provides evidence that the human greenhouse effect must be so small it presents little threat to the planet or its people.
The icy bad news for the CO2 alarmists is that THE TEMPERATURES AT AND NEAR THE NORTH AND SOUTH POLES ARE LOWER NOW THAN THEY WERE IN 1930.
The Antarctic Peninsula, the thin finger of land pointing north toward Argentina (and the equator) has been getting warmer. We’ve heard an inordinate amount of hoopla about the warming on the peninsula, which makes up less than 3 percent of the Antarctic’s land area. That is because:
1) That is where most of the scientists and thermometers are; and
2) It is the only part showing any agreement with the Greenhouse Theory. The other 97 percent of Antarctica has been cooling since the mid-1960s.
The data from twenty-one Antarctic surface stations show an average continental decline of 0.008 degrees Celsius from 1978 to 1998, and the infrared data from satellites operating since 1979 show a decline of 0.42 degrees Celsius per decade.
The sea ice surrounding the Antarctic continent also confirms cooling. Australia’s A.B. Watkins and Ian Simmons report increases in Southern Ocean sea ice parameters and an increase in the length of the sea-ice season in the 1990s.
Yes, it’s true, Arctic-wide, there is no impending sign of warming or the ice cap melting. Let me explain:
Polish climatologist Rajmund Przybylak used the mean monthly readings from thirty-seven Arctic and seven sub-Arctic stations to construct the near-surface Arctic air temperatures over the last seventy years. He found “in the Arctic, the highest temperatures since the beginning of instrumental observations occurred clearly in the 1930s.” Even the temperatures in the 1950s were higher than those of the last decade.
The University of Alaska’s Igor V. Polyakov and his team analyzed the data from 125 Arctic land stations and a number of drifting buoys. They found a strong warming between 1917 and 1937, but no net warming- and perhaps a slight cooling- since 1937.
Greenland has also been growing colder. Over the last half century, there has been a statistically significant cooling, particularly in southwest coastal Greenland. Sea temperatures in the nearby Labrador Sea have also fallen. The studies were made by Edward Hanna of Britain’s University of Plymouth and John Capellan of the Danish Meteorological Institute using the data from eight Danish
weather stations on Greenland, plus three stations collecting data from the surface of the nearby sea.
However, it is crystal clear that dana1981 and his tribe cannot have an intelligent debate or a respectful dialog with anyone. They cannot prove anything, because they are alarmists, ideological environmentalists propagating a political ideology and "junk science" as real science. Political ideologies are almost invariably wrong- the man made global warming ideology is no exception. There is no way they will be convinced that they are wrong, because the truth is that they don't care. They have and ideology, an agenda, and they will fight reason, true science, common sense, and reality even if another "Ice Age" would fall upon planet Earth!
Note about glaciers: Retreating and advancing is what glacier does. Glaciers are an ever-present, ever-changing part of Earth’s environment, growing and advancing during coolings, shrinking during warmings, and sometimes even disappearing.
Note about polar bears dying due to melting polar ice : "Polar bear numbers increased dramatically from around 5,000 in 1950 to as many as 25,000 today, higher than any time in the 20th century," according to and excellent booklet available from the National Center for Policy Analysis (ncpa.org) titled "A Global Warming Primer."

What rock have you been hiding under?
Perhaps because winter is coming is why temperatures are falling? If what you say is true, then why are companies, both for tourists and for international trade, planning on creating routes in the Arctic Ocean for their cruises and freighters, where no water routes have ever existed because these routes have always been frozen over? Always!!!!!!!!!!
Have you not seen the documentaries showing rivers of water gushing off Greenland's ice cap and documenting the first time in recorded history that glaciers here and throughout the world have disappeared? Permanently ?!?!?!? It looks like it is going to take the flooding of the world's heavily populated coastlines by an untold number of meters of seawater before the few remaining skeptics of global warming realize that - oops - what-do-you know, global warming is real. Gee whiz, sorry, shoulda listened to all the people from scientists, to farmers, to everyday people who have witnessed global warming first hand, including those who have a memory to remember when the earth's atmosphere wasn't going haywire. We'll be lucky if the planet doesn't soon end up like Mars. Oh well, it was a nice planet, before humans came along.
Can you say Pompeii???? (add pompous to the opposite of your list of alarmist and scaremonger - The people of ancient Pompeii denied that the nearby volcano was about to erupt and did not take the appropriate action and evacuate - oops - then they were covered over their heads in burning ash) The few people who deny global warming look like those unfortunate inhabitants of Pompeii, but unfortunately, only time will tell for sure. Most people seem smart enough and don't want to find out and therefore believe that global warming is real and try to change things to reverse and neutralize global warming. Don't you think it would be wiser to be a little bit smarter and to heed the warnings of the facts about global warming and see if there is something we can do to avoid disaster, rather than to be sorry and perhaps non-existent later?
Can you say Biblical Flood??????????????
p.s. The north and south poles may have the greatest concentrations of frozen water on the planet, but ironically, they are also considered, by climatologists and meteorologists, to be deserts. Just like a desert, there is very little precipication on the north and south poles. It takes a long time for glaciers and the frozen ice caps to form. Therefore, when global warming comes along, it can melt these glaciers and ice caps much faster than they can reform in the winter. Most people don't realize this, and so, also are skeptical about global warming. They're stuck in their own little worlds and don't realize their world may be changing radically if not in their lifetimes, then just after they die - their children and grandchildren are the ones who will see the worst of it. The result is the melting of the polar ice caps and disappearing glaciers - say goodbye to the snows of Kilimanjaro. Most of the worlds people live in the more temperate and southern climates, so they do not notice the increasing temperatures and the melting ice, they just see their usual seasons - whatever they are accustomed to in their lifetimes. This is with the exceptions of deadly heatwaves and fires in Europe and North America in the last few years.
These are not the rantings of an alarmist or scaremonger, these are just the facts of the world we live in today.

It is called Global Climate Change. Not Global Warming Change. Have you seen the earth at Greenland lately. Until the past ten years you would not have been able to because of glaciers and ice floes, and snow covered ridges. Now there is very little snow or ice cap, and all the glaciers are disappearing.
Does that strike you as perhaps a bit odd for a country that has always been covered with ice and snow.
Perhaps you should educate yourself on a topic before you try to be mr. smarty pants and try to make people think you know what you are talking about.

But then you have the Arctic Sea being unfrozen for the first time ever in history. Hard to explain that away. And huge glacier retreats all over the world. "Alarmist" and "scaremonger" seem a bit strong. These are just people concerned with preventing or heading off or minimizing a disaster. Just the economic cost of southern Manhattan going under water would sink the US, the whole insurance industry would die. And what about Florida? Isn't it wise to play on the cautious side?

Actually there is plenty of evidence that glaciers and ice caps are melting. Many glaciers are smaller than ever recorded and there is open sea farther north than has ever been recorded (and more drowned polar bear have been found than ever before). Check the news and see why Russia decided to try to claim the land under the North pole. They expect it to be ice free sometime in the future. Check the news for the lack of ice on the Matterhorn and how there have been many more landslides as there is less ice holding it together.

It's WINTER at the South Pole. The seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere (which means right now it's getting colder and colder in Australia, Chile, and Antactica).

Have you been hiding under a rock? How can you say there is no sign of the ice cap melting? The north polar ice cap is shrinking quite a bit. See the source.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Arctic sea ice has just hit an all time low this summer.

In Alaska, entire towns are melting away:

It's true that temperatures in central Antarctica are dropping, but that's due to the human-caused ozone hole:

So now we're calling the Greenhouse Effect a theory? What about Gravity? Sounds like an alarmist Theory to me! Trying to convince people they might fall down, and everything. Those pesky alarmists! Next thing you know they'll be saying that if you mix fuel with oxygen in the presence of heat it can start a fire! Just trying to scare people into thinking they can get burned. Next thing after that they'll be claiming that for every action there's an equal but opposite reaction and claiming you can build rockets that can take stuff right up in the air! Probably say that splitting the atom releases energy too. Claiming it can blow your butt to kingdom come. Oh the shame of it all! Pesky alarmists! Gosh darned pesky people! Oh the agony! Oh the pain!!! :-(
Everybody knows the government is paying them billions and billions of dollars to say these things. Everybody knows how much assistant professors make, with their lavish grants! Everbody knows research doesn't cost anything anyway, so they keep it all for themselves. What is the matter with people who believe this hoax? The hoaxers have been at it for a hundred years now, and I still don't believe them. I didn't believe them in science class in school, so they flunked me, and now I hang out in the Global Warming section to be among my own kind. Once we drive out all these people who for no apparent reason want to talk about Global Warming in here, I think that Ice Age my wet nurse promised me back in the 1970's will finally arrive. I'm only here to defend her good name.

"Artic wide, however, there is no impending sign of warming or the ice cap melting."
Boy, you could have fooled me! And the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration! And the Arctic ice!
"The Arctic summer sea ice shrank by more than 20 per cent below the previous 2005 record low in mid-September to 4.13 million sq km, according to a 30-year satellite record. It has now frozen out to 4.2 million sq km."
http://au.news.yahoo.com/070928/2/14jsr.html
Here's a graph of the area covered by the arctic sea ice over time, from the NOAA. It doesn't include the 2007 record low, but shows a pretty obvious trend:
http://www.arctic.noaa.gov/detect/detection-images/climate-ice-seaice-extent-trend-sep06.png
But I'm sure you're right. Those damn scientists are trying to convince us otherwise with their scaremonger scientific data. Who do they think they are?! Don't they know that MioCid's wishful guesses are more valid than satellite imagery??
