Seriously, how does this fit into the overall theory of the dangerous environmentalist socialist one-world government conspiracy?

What was bleeped? I'm so pleased I've managed to flummox both sides of the debate. That is, unless you're being sarcastic with me, as I have half been with you. No really, can you explain how greenwashing by the conservative right meshes with the socialist one-world conspiracy? If there is a one-world conspiracy, then Bush and the right must somehow be subservient to it, now that he is towing the line, right? I'm trying to show an inconsistency in the conspiracy argument. The right wants to foment this idea of a socialist takeover, until...unless...um they find a way to co-op it for...what? Now I'm confused... that's why I asked the question.

Bush is part of many conspiracies ,this may be the only one he is not ,
but it is fun to demote global warming to a conspiracy theory, but it may prove to be true ,like many of the others

wishing something away is for dreamers ,it does not work with realities but it makes a lot of people feel better for a while .

I'm in the uk so haven't heard all the details, he's not really playing ball though, just spouting a bit of eco-business friendly hot air to support the growing biofuel industry and ease his remaining time in the Whitehouse by winning over a chunk of shallow, uninformed 'greens' while doing zilch.

If the greens are in the conspiracy theory you mentioned, then why did thier reaction to bush's statement have to be bleeped?

Bush is doing nothing for the environment.
He is saying cutting co2 should be voluntary.

Do you think big business is going to spend money to reduce pollution when they don't have to.

America is the most polluting country on the face of the earth and the sooner you recognize that fact the better.

America is saying everybody but us should help the environment.

Typical American arrogance

About the same as Newt Gingrich, Pat Robertson, and the Evangelical Christians, who admitted their error a year before Bush.

The overwhelming scientific proof that global warming is mostly caused by Man has forced him to admit fact. The same is true for prominent "skeptics' like Lindzen and Lomborg who don't deny it any more, but argue that "It won't be so bad." Most everyone disagrees with that.

The reason environmentalists are not happy is that Bush's position now is "Let's just delay any action until I'm out of office."

I am so happy that Bush finally noticed the problem. Maybe he came on Y!A and saw what we were all up to. Or maybe the rest of the world finally got it through his thick skull that GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL!!!!!

Global warming is a political, not scientific argument. Notice that President Bush never has to agree how far the Sun is from the Earth, as this is a fact.

Politicians are in the business of getting themselves and their party elected in office. Some politicians did this by tossing minorities in pizza ovens, others do this by throwing out science to pander to the consensus.

The Romans had a saying for this: "Vox populi, vox dei." or "the voice of the people is the voice of God."
