If all of humanity followed China's plan, limiting each couple to one child, would that not go the longest way to limiting warfare, and pollution, and global warming? Why do people seem to think this is some terrible idea, and insist on bringing as many people into the world as possible, whether they can be fed and housed or not? Don't most of our problems stem from the simple fact that just within the last century, we have expanded like a virus, and there are just TOO MANY human beings for our own, and the planet's good? Why don't we take Thomas Malthus' economics seriously?

There is a pipeline for oil in Alaska, why not a pipeline from the southern ocean in Texas to run water through out and filter out the salt, I hear France does it, don't know if that is true. But surely we can come up with the technology to do so, we can after all spend money to goto the moon.

When I was in college I remember learning about interpolations and extrapolations to predict results. My instructor informed us that we could not rely on extrapolations outside of the data set.

If an Ice Age was adamantly predicted by climate science in the 70's will Global Warming predictions be considered as big a farce in 30 years?

to travel overseas to places like New York.. it takes only 3 days or so to travel from the UK to New York, so why isn't someone exploring this option. I do not mean cruises I mean ships that simply are doing the jobs of planes but creating [presumably] less pollution.

I know this option would not be suitable for business people who maybe have to get to meetings on time, etc but for travellers with 2 weeks holidays wouldn't this be an option. There could also be journeys laid on for people travelling throughout Europe as well. Of course the whole Australasia to the Rest of the world journey would be problematic as it could end up taking weeks but what do you think?

Industrialized n rich countries say that if they are well prepared and can afford measures, then global warming is not much to worry about..

But environmentalists say that global warming threats our very own existance...rising sea levels will flood coastal areas, where the worlds approx. 60% people live...

This one's for the Global Warming gang. The Earth may be in a slight warming trend, I'll give you that. My question is, how do we know this is not normal? Earth has been a constantly changing planet for millions of years. Do we really expect it to stop changing just because we're here? How do you know for a fact that the temperature isn't supposed to be warmer in 5 years than it is now? You can throw averages around all you want, that really doesn't mean anything if you can't explain why you think the Earth is supposed to stay a certain temp. for the rest of time.

As of today, we have volumes of database information on wildlife and natural habitat degradation. The database wildlife information seems to remain with a selected few, mainly wildlide researchers, conservationists and nature lovers. Our fringe area communities, I believe, still lack information on basics about human and wildlife interdependence, value of nature conservation and significance of sustainable nature conservation. There must be an integrated approach to elevate the awareness level of the communities and involve them practically in the wildlife conservation process.

So wildlife conservation education should be considered most important over all the conservation strategies. This is because most of the damage to the bio resources is man made and this trend continues to remain as the no 1 threat to the wildlife in their habitat areas.
