Ecological science is the study of constantly changing balancing acts. Ecological imbalance is a curious concept because natural environments are always changing, so a true balance rarely occurs. Ecological process tend to make things become more balanced, but natural processes also tend to favor some organisms more than others. If there is no change in ecological processes over a long period of time, favored organisms eliminate the less-favored organisms, which creates a natural imbalance. When this occurs, large disruptions or imbalances are needed periodically to reset the ecosystem, otherwise it becomes even more imbalanced. An example of this is wildfire, which is needed in many grassland and dry forest ecosystems where certain types of trees completely take over unless fires occur periodically. Wildfires are a type of natural ecological disturbance on which some ecosystems depend.

Because ecosystems are always changing and slightly out of balance, and because periodic imbalances are necessary to maintain most ecosystems, ecologists generally define imbalance as a condition that would not naturally occur.

Ecological imbalance occurs when one species is eroding or wiping out another species which it needs to sustain it's life cycle with. An example is if the whales ate too much plankton which caused them to starve, then that would create an ecological imbalance that could not be sustained! All creatures and plant life live off of each other in this world, therefore creating a ecological balance. climate change or food source change and you have an ecological in-balance! Hope this helps, have a good day.

For ecological imbalance mainly or rather fully Humans are responsible. Lets take am example like due to the deforestation the habitat of many organisms are destoyes. According to my Environmental Education book- the SAHARA desert was once a greenland but due to killing of Tigers and Lions the number of Herbivorous animals increased and that led to the formation of the biggest Desert in the world. So in this case as well humans were responsible

Ecological imbalance is the term used to define the erosion or over growth of a specific species.

Say, for example, in a forest, if the no of tigers are getting lesser then it is an imbalance.
Similarly, if the no of tigers grow more, such that their preys are very lesser and there is danger of non availability of food for them in future is also an imbalance.
