I appreciate the lessened effect they have on the environment but aren't they just stopping other light bulbs from being picked? And if they were so important, why are old tradition light bulbs still made and for sale?

I'm thinking of buying a house in the middle of like 50 acres of forest that isn't hooked up to the main electricity grid. If I put solar panels on the roof and a windmill outside, do you think that would be enough to have electricity all the time? I could probably get by with a day here and there without power, but I don't know how dependable a windmill really is. I don't really care about the initial cost because it's more eco-friendly and might save money in the long run. And this would be in central Pennsylvania, which is pretty windy.

Someone once told me: If you're going to be in a room within a short time its better to leave the light on rather than turn them off and then back on again when you come back in order to save electricity. True or false?

With the threat of global warming?

With the deminishing support for the global warming lie, we seem to be forgetting the real local pollution problems that effect our everyday lives. Will the supporters of global ever realize it is a farce and see that trying to push it as a political agenda has damaged there credibility, which in turn has taken the attention away from a real problem of local pollution?
Alot of the supporters claim how there climate has changed locally, but its always over the last few years that they cite. our climate has changed here as well but it has not changed at all from the 30 year cycle that has been recorded since the mid 1800s. But then it is said that climate should be judged on a global level, but that is not possible with the data that is available. Meanwhile streams and lakes are polluted and destroyed, and the tree huggers don't seem to care.
I have to say that Rush made a good point, "All the animals on the endangered spacies list are animals we don't eat"

If it can be proven that species will go extinct from global warming then doesn't this law require that it be stopped? I'm no lawyer I was just reading about the law, could some one or some group sue the government to prevent global warming using this law?

The whole world seems to think that wind power is environmentally friendly.

How can this be so when we are now extracting many thousands of GigaWatts of power from the wind by means of wind generators. This must in turn have a braking effect on the earth´s air currents. Look what happens when El Nino occurs causing the water currents to reverse off South America? It causes droughts + fires in the USA and floods in Australia.

I will be very relieved if someone can convince me that wind power will not have an adverse effect the worlds weather patterns.

At the moment it is my opinion that the whole world seems to be burying it`s head in the sand on this issue! I´m all for green, renewable energy, but is wind power truly green?

I mean, you could store it and send it to Venus every 10 years or something like that. It's very unlikely that E.T. life would survive on Venus (or an equally harsh planet), so instead of letting it rot on Earth, why not just send it away? Once its half-life is over, it's no longer harmful anyway, right? So the chances of causing any trouble that way is very small.

I've heard conflicting opinions about global warming. Some people say that it's just a natural course of events and we have nothing to do with it. Does anybody have an opinion about it?

Global warming is directly tied to CO2 in the atmosphere, correct?, And over the years there has been a steady increase in CO2, correct?, Then how do you explain the sudden drop in temperature in the mid 1900's, or the mini ice age in the 1000's? What about the scientific fact that heat creates CO2 and CO2 doesn't create heat? Don't be mean. It's just a question.
