I don't see that local problems are going unchecked, but they have been put on the back burner somewhat. No they wont realize its a farce, because it's not there goal to stop it. It has become a political propaganda machine, and they will keep it going as long as they can. "Animals we don't eat?" that's too funny, i gotta listen to Rush. LOL!
OMG! did someone actually reference greenpeace? LMFAO!
his credibility just got shot to he11.

Great response Ecolink!
Whose attention, precisely, has been shifted? Do you know any of these people? I seriously doubt it.
The "lie" as you put it is the indication of a global catastrophe which is being peddled by the huge oil and vehicle conglomerates. They are all about feathering their own nests by making you believe that there is something false about Global Warming. And didn't they get you a beauty!
I actually feel sorry for people like you who doubt the facts as presented by a consensus of international scientists. The lies which you are being fed are paid for by the big boys who don't want anything to change because their profits will suffer.
Local pollution eh? What are YOU doing about it, apart from complaining that we greenies aren't doing enough? Why don't YOU do something if you're so worried about it? After all, we all MUST take responsibility for all our actions in the long run. Have you actually investigated the sources of the pollution you describe? Are any of them a direct cause of YOUR lifestyle? Maybe you should find out instead of complaining about it....
A political agenda? That isn't the only way to get things to change, but it's certainly a start. Certainly a whole lot more effective than waiting for the multinationals to solve the problem themselves! It's also been a big thing with everyone who knows anything about our home for the past 20 years. It's only since Al Gore began to speak out loudly and publicly that it's become a political football....
As for "the tree huggers don't seem to care" We do. Passionately. Demonstrably. More than can be said about apologists like yourself, I'm sorry to say.
Love and Light,
Jarrah
btw. I'm going to be REALLY interested to see who gets your "best answer". No doubt it will be one of your fellow apologists.....

Incredible.
What evidence do you have that people who are concerned about global warming are ignoring other environmental issues?
I teach my environmental science students about many issues, including global warming and the topics you have mentioned. In addition we do ecosystem monitoring, watching for alien and invasive species, indicators of pollution, changes in physical and biotic factors, ...
I think you are putting forth this argument just to get a rise out of people. Everyone has access to the same data.
Are the only good animals the ones we eat? Uh-oh. We don't eat people, do we?
Yes, I'm a tree-hugging, stream-wading, bug-counting, prairie-planting, porch-sitting, compost-making, lawn-chemical-avoiding, walk-to-work, turn-off-the-lights, put-on-a-sweater, don't-buy-stuff kind of a gal.

You need to look at the data. Very short summary here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Climate_Change_Attribution.png
A lot more here:
http://www.ipcc.ch/SPM2feb07.pdf
The data is why the support from scientists is not decreasing, it is increasing.
"the question of global warming was settled years ago for all but a few holdouts in the scientific community"
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/nation/16620307.htm
This is science. Rush can't decide what's real (neither can Gore). The data decides and the data says it's real.

so we tell all the people who have died in china and Africa .or those who have lost everything
that it was all a mistake a lie ,they got nothing to worry about
easy to say if you live in North America far from the disaster areas around the equator.
everybody is so preocupied that co2 ,or polution is the only reason of climate change
many people forget about desertification
desserts are like a fire they gobble up the edges with the heat and so grow.
forrests regulate the climate ,they absorb heat during the day and release it at night ,that is why desserts are freezing at night and cooking during the day
Forrests produce water ,and regulate the atmosphere we breathe (they absorb carbon )as well as protecting the earth from the sun
if forrest are being exchanged for ashalt, concrete and desserts
what is gonna keep this planet habitable for us
Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects
this text is limited to effects of people in the country, industrial effects on the environment and the internal combustion engine as well as the over all effects of cities and the ozone part of global warming,is another story,
climate change is caused partly by desertification ,and most desertification is caused by man
the thinner ozone layer helps to speed this up.and this is caused mainly by air polution ,also as a result of mans actions
there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms
in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result
in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert,
,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.
collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,
each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss
and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
and there are 70 million more peole every year that have to eat and drink and wash
who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing
RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.
