Its not necessarily the earth that needs saving. The earth will heal itself. Its the healing process that will make the earth inhospitable to human life. So really, the question is, is it too late to save ourselves?

What do you mean by save it? Save it from change? Earth, without living things changing it in the first place, should be a barren rock with a Helium, Hydrogen, Ammonia, and Methane atmosphere. We have come a long way since then. The Earth is changing, but if you looked at a timeline of Earth, life has always changed the Earth's properties, and life has always adapted to such changes. Even with ecological cataclysms such as the mass extinction 65 million years ago, life managed to survive, adapt, diversify, and repopulate the planet. Really, any slow processes that we introduce will eventually reach a new equalibrium point. Change is the only way for progress, even in the ecosystem.

Most people in the scientific community think that it's not too late. There are a very small number who beleive we may have already reached the tipping point - the point at which the damage becomes irreversible.

The problem is that we're in uncharted territory and no-one can say for certain just when we will reach the tipping point. The prudent thing to do seems to be to take whatever action is necessary sooner rather than later.

Several schemes have been suggested that could save our planet. Some of these were examined in a BBC documentary 'Five Ways to Save the World' which you can watch here... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=286000425078890061

the planet will be ok unless we let of too many nuclear bombs
it is humanity and the plants and animals who will run into trouble ,
and can we save us ???

i doubt it because it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use

Wow, you have quite the ego. Do you really think you are a threat to the planet? Or that you can do anything to "save" something this massive?

You're not and you can't. We're just here for the ride.

worldwide warming isn't purely a fable and the so called specialists that are fueling this rumor are the very people who're at the back of it (ie. automobile agencies, oil agencies, and so on. and those paid via those agencies to denounce worldwide warming). it is now trouble-free actuality between scientists that worldwide warming is being very much larger via human pastime. No we can't thoroughly end worldwide warming yet we can very much shrink our greenhouse gas emissions and if we act now we can replace the gloom result that awaits us. in spite of if, on the linked fee the worldwide is shifting, the attempt this is being completed at present is futile. extra transformations ought to happen!

The planet does not need saving. It has been through all of this before.

All you have to worry about is the time you're going to be here.

No one can save you during that.
