How long can you suffer from an injured tailbone?

In short: I injured my tailbone in cheerleading and I am wondering how much longer it will take to heal.

I injured my tailbone about 12 years ago... when I get a fever the injury flares up..is tender! I think the initial pain went away in about 4 weeks to 6 weeks... best to get it checked out by a doctor and make sure you did not break it

My wife fell about 45 years ago and it still hurts her . Ibuprofen helps.
