There's a major company in Canada, and one in the United States who are trying to push for nuclear energy as they state it's better for the environment (and for political reasons). Although I know this is being promoted by people in whose best interest it is to promote this, it made me think. What is your response to this campaign, and how much does nuclear energy harm the environment?

I'm looking for 2 well-contructed arguements for and against the speculation of global warming, preferably by scholars.I'm really not sure how I feel about the situation because I'm not sure if it's true.At a plebian level,I don't see a difference in the weather from the years. The only change I've seen is its course. There have always been fluctuations in weather throughout the times.I just don't see a big threat.Though,I do think I could be wrong, and I want to find out if I'm wrong.

The scientists that say global warming will kill our grandchildren or the scientists that say the microwave radiation from mobile phones will kill us? Or should we ignore both sets as mistaken?

Our project is about boiling salt water vs. fresh water, and why the salt water boils faster. Can anybody think of a good name for it?

I am undecided on the whole global warming debate. I’ve never seen “Inconvenient Truth” and I’m not a scientist, but I do have a question. I can see what those on the right have to gain by claiming that the whole global warming thing is a hoax. Clearly it is in the best interest of big business/oil companies for there to be no such thing as global warming. My question is, if it is a hoax, what’s in it for the guys on the left? Why propagate a lie, if it is, in fact, a lie?

Have any of you heard THIS?

The Kyoto Protocol calls for mandatory carbon dioxide reductions of 30% from developed countries like the U.S. Reducing man-made CO2 emissions this much would have an undetectable effect on climate while having a devastating effect on the U.S. economy. Can you drive your car 30% less, reduce your winter heating 30%? Pay 20-50% more for everything from automobiles to zippers? And that is just a down payment, with more sacrifices to come later.

Such drastic measures, even if imposed equally on all countries around the world, would reduce total human greenhouse contributions from CO2 by about 0.035%.

This is much less than the natural variability of Earth's climate system!

All this is being asked of us while at the same time we know WITHOUT doubt that people are starving on this planet. Daily.

Can anyone tell me what the REAL motive behind kyoto must be since it will have ZIP impact on the environment.

Please, help me remember the full name... it's really bugging me!!
thanks :D

global warming is a natural phenomenum, and gordon brown putting up our taxes is not going to effect it one iota.its a good job the labour party wernt around at the end of the ice age, they would have cleaned right up.still with all the money they make they can finance their wars and keep carbon dioxide levels down by killing humans..do you believe the global warming propaganda??

-Functional electric automobiles were already developed and sold in America (they were taken off the market due to several reasons, but mostly from pressure of oil profiteers).
-Our coastlines should be lined with wind powered turbines. They do not have to be right on the beach. A quarter mile in would create enough wind powered energy to supply the whole United States. People complain about the "landscape" but developements in wind turbines have created a more eye-appealing, less bulky engine. Becides, there are plenty of obstructions already in place along our coastline (lighthouses, buildings, watertowers, etc...)
- If we put half of the amount of money President bush gave to oil companies as a tax break, into better developing renewable energy, I'd bet we wouldn't ever require the use of fossil fuels ever again.
