Those ones are fine, but I am Canadian, so my top picks are Bob Hunter (co-founder of Greenpeace) or David Suzuki.

Calling Steve Irwin (note spelling) an "environmentalist" is not really correct. He was an entrepeneur with a flair for saying the right things...he was more of an Aussie larrakin than anything else. Compare him with Crocodile Dundee - the character from the movie of the same name.

Henry David Thoreau is the correct spelling too...

I'd suggest you look at the Norwgian green guru, Arne Naess for one - he's an environmental philosopher of extraordinary talent, wisdom and intelligence and is responsible for the term "deep ecology". A web search will give you much more information than I can here.

Another famous Australian is Bob Brown. He is the founder of the Green Party - the political version of the Greenie movement worldwide. A humble and incredibly well-respected human, Bob has been fighting for the protection of the Australian forests (amongst many other things) for more than 30 years and is now a member of the Federal parliament in Australia. Most people have the mistaken belief that The Greens are a German invention, but they're not!

Another person who you might like to look at is the Dalai Lama. Although not traditionally seen as an "environmentalist", the messages he is able to pass along from his Buddhist tradition are really striking significant chords with most of the environmental movement worldwide.

Hope this helps!

Love and Light,

Jarrah
