Global Warming Debate Question?

I am undecided on the whole global warming debate. I’ve never seen “Inconvenient Truth” and I’m not a scientist, but I do have a question. I can see what those on the right have to gain by claiming that the whole global warming thing is a hoax. Clearly it is in the best interest of big business/oil companies for there to be no such thing as global warming. My question is, if it is a hoax, what’s in it for the guys on the left? Why propagate a lie, if it is, in fact, a lie?

To control the world. Always a major goal for scientists.

To enhance their scientific status. By supporting an incorrect theory???????

Although Inconvenient Truth is a movie from the eyes of the left siders it makes the global warming issue very clear.

What people don't understand today is that our earth has it's cycles. It will shift and change according to how the rest of the universe works. I imagine this is what the far right siders use to support their beliefs ( and also the need for the issue to go away due to economic reasons)

What Al Gore argues in An Inconvenient Truth is the fact that we are producing more waste today than we ever have. Also the issue with oil comes up. Everyone knows that America uses tons of oil. we have relied on cars and other oil burning transportation too much. No one walks or rides bikes anymore. This is spurring the hybrid automobile studies but we need an answer now.

There are also pictures of well-known landmarks in Alaska, Antarctica..etc.. that have melted. Polar bears are dieing due to having to swim more than normal. After watching it, I wanted to travel to those places as soon as possible before they change anymore.

I suggest you check the movie out. Also watch Who Killed the Electric cars. If you are middle of the road like me you will see both views and how they are supported. I think global warming is something everyone needs to realize is happening but we don't have to go crazy over it. That is just natures way of fixing the problem.

I can't find any other profit than that of the individual's ego. But, I would suppose that if Global Warming is not real, it does not necessarily mean that the lefties are liers. This is because they might truly have evident matters, which when thrown towards a number of people, also looks evident. Just like God, many people claim to believe because He is evident, due to the complexity of the world around them. This does not make them liers if God does not exist, just believers.

Those who stand to benefit from global warming fall into two main catagories:

Politicians with a social agenda to advance - Liberal politicians want to exert government control over every aspect of life, including how much you drive and how businesses operate. But, if they simply came out and said something like "My platform is to establish total government control over all individuals and businesses." they would be ridden out of town on a rail.

So they need to come up with another approach: "We are all going to die because (enter current crisis here) and the only way we can prevent it is for the government to establish strict regulations on (enter what ever you want to control here).

Scientists looking for grant money - As much as we may not like to admit it, science today is as much a business as selling cars. In the world of Science Inc. the product being sold is the scientists work and the price is grant money to support this work, including paying the scientists salary. Having a crisis that must be solved and being recognized as one of the leading experts on either the cause of the crisis or possible solutions is a powerful sales pitch.
