Here are some things to consider. Some candidates are using alternative energy as an issue to get votes. Now that the planet is getting 'sick' they want to change things. At one time the USA had a water powered auto called "The Stanley Steamer." The oil companies probably bought it. Germany uses hydrogen powered autos and introduced the technology to the USA many years ago. I think Nixon was president at the time. A lot of the major rivers had hydroelectric dams to supply energy to their region. Most of them are gone. I hope this draws a lot of answers. thank you

If we wiped out all the bugs in the enitre world (assuming it was possible), would we inevitably die because of our actions on the ecosystem?

Else, it would lead the world in the preventions against pollution and global warming. But instead of acting, US administration drags its feet and leaves the world to rot. What kind of a leader would do that?

At issue; global warming. We are being told it's caused by CO2. This is simply untrue. Atmospheric CO2 is a result of a warmer climate.(it is NOT a climate driver!) Ice cores tell us that in the past earth has had 10-20 times as much carbon dioxide and still gone into a cooling trend. Dd the ice ages end because mammoths drove suvs? The US at several times was tropical and had vast inland seas.BEFORE PEOPLE! One strong possibility is deforestation (rainforests). Think about how much cooler the woods is on a summer day versus a parking lot. Also remember trees remove CO2. If it takes 10 trees 1 day to remove X CO2, how long for 1 tree?Rainforests provide 25 % of the earths oxygen. Forests are being slashed and burned at incomprehensible rates.(110 acres per minute) Imagine 10 Montanas being scorched to dirt EACH YEAR.Not to mention animals and plants, etc. Yet we are being told it's our CO2 that is causing global warming . Who's making the money? Why is the deforestation not headline n

The Purpose of Refrigeration
The fundamental reason for having a refrigerator is to keep food cold. Cold temperatures help food stay fresh longer. The basic idea behind refrigeration is to slow down the activity of bacteria (which all food contains) so that it takes longer for the bacteria to spoil the food.

Since when has Hillary all of a sudden become "passionately" interested in the alternative energy and environmental issues? Let me guess: Since alternative energy, bio-combustive, global warming, etc., issues have earned mass popularity and campaign-viable status. I guess the poor lady and her inept campaign advisors don't realize that if anyone were to elect anyone solely on the basis of environmental concerns, she would never be elected. Al Gore, for one, has been singing the environmental tune (genuinely or otherwise) for a lot longer time than she has! For the record, I am NOT a republican or a male chauvinist pig that doesn't like to see a woman in the White House; I am just a non-partisan citizen who likes to see a competent, trustworthy, sincere, and affable character in charge of our nation next time! ... Hey, I can always dream of a better world, cannot I?

As of now, there is no effect way to clean up nuclear radiation. I heard it takes hundreds of years for the radiation from a nuclear explosion to decrease to a safe level, until then the environment within the vicinity of the explosion is uninhabitable.

Now, my question is: how could the Japanese rebuild Hiroshima and Nagasaki right after the nuclear explosion? If I'm not mistaken, there is a Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park right in the city center where the Atomic Bomb Dome marked the ground zero of the nuclear explosion.

If radiation released by an nuclear explosion is so dangerous, how can these two cities become habitable to human in such a short time?

Maybe I should ask it under Science -> Physics? Not sure if this is the right place. XD

Recently there been an influx of huge a*ss mosquitoes around my house. I'm a little wary of using insecticides and all and I was wondering are there any natural mosquito repelants that aren't harmful to babies and are easily obtained?

I've heard and tested that vanilla extract and water solution on skin does the trick (obviously not great if you want to keep a whole room or the porch mosquito free), and at some science show when I was channel surfing that the sound of male mosquitoes' hum also keeps away female mosquitoes.

Any ideas? Is vanilla a tree or a plant?

The company MUST be approved by at least one recognised international testing body or a Governemnt agency (not an issue of country specifics) and they must be able to deliver globally. Anyone know of such a company? web searches show not too much at all. Thanks in anticipation and best wishes from Hong Kong

humans for years have polluted our earth we live on by tossing objects like paper or other things on the ground, that stuff evaporates into the earth and destroys it's structure. Those who trash this earth should be held accountable. Recycling should be mandatory for everyone. My Question is why are humans so lazy about these issues???? Do we not care what happens to our future???
