I spent a couple of months in Italy, and was astonished, dumbfounded, and horrified to find that my hosts used TONS of plastic cups and plastic plates because they were too lazy to wash dishes--but what disgusted me was the fact that they recycled NOTHING. They did not recycle laundry detergent containers, milk bottles, or anything else for that matter. Here I was in Europe where I thought people were a little more progressive, intelligent, conscious of the environment...

They told me that it didn't matter because all of the plastic was biodegradable, that the government made it a law that manufactures made only biodegradable plastic. That seems impossible to me, and I think he was lying to shut me up. Was he lying, or am I grossly misinformed?

If you put 100 litres of dirty water through a Water Recycling Plant how many litres of clean water would would you get. When I say clean water I mean " water fit for human consumption".

I care a great deal about global warming, In fact, my high school acting class has made it our goal to stop global warming. One of my friends told me that she didnt even think it was a big deal. i find that difficult to fathom.
If you are one of those people who dont care, i want to know why not. if you DO care, thats great, tell me your view.

Peace .Love. Oprah.

Basically if we were all to buy these 100% electric cars, the extra demand on power stations to produce electric to charge these cars, would cause extra pollutants from the power stations.....

Oil consumption is one: outdated diesel trains, high octane burning jetliners, large personal vehicles, heavy land development equipment, energy plants, refineries, and cargo transportation.

Others are: large methane producing beef farms/dairies that do not harvest and prevent enough of the gasses from leaving the farm. Only a few farms deploy this type of containment, are we willing to pay more for dairy and beef to protect our environment so they can invest in such containment systems? I think so.

Did you know the populations of bark beetles have increased from 1.1 million in 2005 to almost 5 million in 2006 in Colorado!? (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20061208/sc_afp/usenvironmentbeetles ) I hate seeing Big Bear, in my area, suffer because it is not getting cold enough to kill them. Trees are dying; oxygen producing forests are becoming extinct, why? In my opinion it's Global Warming. It's affecting everything and I believe it is all of our concern.

What’s your opinion?

I recycle EVERYTHING and don't use products with PFC's. What are things you do? What other things could I do to help out as much as I can?

Just wondering with all the media attention whether anybody is actually actively making changes? I have definately cut back on my energy consumption and only use heating when really desperate - I've doubled my recycling. I walk to the local shop now for basic supplies instead of the using the car. Thats a start. What do the rest of you do? If at all?
