Just wondering with all the media attention whether anybody is actually actively making changes? I have definately cut back on my energy consumption and only use heating when really desperate - I've doubled my recycling. I walk to the local shop now for basic supplies instead of the using the car. Thats a start. What do the rest of you do? If at all?

With all the research evidence before us, noone can put global warming down to Mother Nature.

I don't think you can really argue that man has had no strong effect on today's physical environment. Granted, weather cycles certainly do evolve over time but these happen over much longer periods of time. Whatever the cause, surely we should be doing EVERYTHING we can do minimise global warming?

I help promote solar power. Solar is a renewable source of energy that can go a long way toward weaning us away from fossil fuels. What has held solar power back has been the high cost of the solar panels. But recently I found a company that will rent all the panels a homeowner needs for a rate that is less than what the utility charges. This will make solar easily available to a huge number of households. If you want more info on this, email me at bullshoalsblues@yahoo.com

You're right enough - we should all be doing our bit - we are all damaging the environment and we should all take responsibility for it. Guess you've inspired me - I will ensure all xmas wrapping paper etc. from my house is recycled and try to do my bit in other ways too (I am being serious!). But you can see why we all loose heart from time to time - are we really gonna be able to make a difference when America, by v far the worlds worst polluter, is still unchanging on its environmental policy. It's typical of human society that the richest people (ie. westerners) are living it up while global warming is already meaning some of the worlds poorest people are already becomeing "environmental refugees" - loosing their homes for it. BTW I totally agree we all know global warming exists, except for some Americans! If you read American scientific journal articles some of the stuff that gets published over there is absolutely appauling and v scary - it's now moving away from 'global warming doesn't exist' through 'global warming isn't man made' towards 'global warming isn't actually going to do any dammage' - shameless and selfish! Well done for doing your bit, even if it won't amount to much I'll try to do the same :) xx

There is some interesting reading here. You picked a great topic.

I installed solar panels in a battery backup type system. When the Grid goes down I never even notice because it auto switches over to solar. On sunny days I turn off the breaker on the Grid power and run from solar only. I put in CF bulbs every where in my home and even as outside lights. I use a lap top computer and not a desk top type and have learned to wear a jacket so I don’t use so much fuel for heating. I as well built a solar heater and put it on my web site for free. If anyone wants a copy just go to the link below and get it. It is in PDF format. Just read the story of how to use it and it is yours. And I as well setup a solar electric store and have been adding as much information about how I built my solar electric system on it so others can do it them selves as well. So I am trying to make it easy for everyone else to do their part as well.

I think if you go back a few hundred years you will find that the world went through similar climatic changes are we are now.

What I think is that enviromental issues with what countries like china are doing to stop pollution is far more important. And us too, if we in the Western world did not demand cheaper goods (most of it rubbish by the way) then China would not be producing pollution in quantities that beggar belief.

Looking after environmental issues and conservation of water and natural resources are far more important that global warming. As it is going to happen whatever. Like someone said how can you stop the sun from getting hotter. And the rainfall decreasing in parts of the world.

Education ,Education, Education.

I'm not doing it personally but I think someone should go over to China and either educate them on what they are doing to the world or.....................shoot half of them. Then the other half might realise we were being serious about it.
Why should I have to pay high prices for fuel to cut emissions and the like when a whole country is putting two fingers up to the rest of the world. I don't have a car, my house is insulated, always had been but it still uses the same amount of gas and electric to run it as it did last year yet I have to pay something like a third more this year to "SAVE THE FUCKIN WORLD"

We are all part of the our Earth.

And the world needs what we have to offer, whatever it is.

I recycle constantly, and have even persuaded my friends and family to do also. What else can I do to help global warming? It conserns me everyday.
