A tree never actually produces Oxygen. It gives it off after converting CO2 into sugar. All a part of photosynthesis and transpiration. When a tree drops its leaves in the fall, the tree goes into a dormancy mode, where it doesn't require much energy to survive. Thus, there is little if any oxygen exchanged at this time.

yes teh leaves do make oxygen but teh main tree amkes it because inside of it the living wood the Trees absorb odors and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and ozone) and filter particulates out of the air by trapping them on their leaves and bark.,In one year an acre of trees can provide enough oxygen for eighteen people

no........... leaves r the primary organs of respiration for all trees n plants.... there r openings called STOMATA in the leaves.... thru these stomatal openings only exchange of gases take place.....
even the excess amount of water is expelled out of these openings in the form of water vapour.......
they cant breathe wen they r without oxygen..........
