A US gallon is 128 fluid ounce. Water weights 1.04 oz per fluid ounce. So 1.5 gallon will weight 12.48 lb.
Now, a BTU is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 lb of water by 1 degee F.
You need to increase the temperature of 12.48 lb of water by 60 F, so that will require 748.8 BTU.
