Given the global political divisions, given the acceleration of the growth of the human population (all needing housing, feeding, employment, power, transport ect), given that the currently agreed very modest proposals to mitigate the effects of climate change are fully implemented is highly unlikely. I think we need to focus some attention on how to adapt to it. The lesson of the biological history of this planet is that environments change and species adapt or die out. So folks, how can we best adapt, both personally and as a community?

I remember when I had my gallbladder out & the dr inadvertantly left a stone in my body that blocked up my liver. So when I returned (in a lot of pain!) they injected me w/something that made everything glow inside of me & they would be able to see where it was stopped up at. I remember that the syringe was all metal (& am I remembering right that the guy was dressed in protective material? I think so.) They said it was radioactive stuff.
Then, within the year, I developed the first stages of what I later learned was cancer. Could the two be connected? Did they give harmful stuff back in 1995?
Thanks!

to give it fluorescence. I remember a tv segment where they stated that in years back before full dangerous effects were known, the material was incorporated in items manufactured. Years later people would get stomach cancer from a radioactive piece carried in their trousers' pocket, artists licking paintbrushes to a fine point using "glowing" paint developed lip and throat cancer, etc...
Well, I wouldn't buy the particular item but I wonder if the seller can be trusted with another similar non-radioactive item.
MY QUESTION:
If per chance they were stored together, would there be a possibility of cross-contamination? Would you caution me against purchasing anything from this seller just in case?

Plastic materials like mugs and buckets are very soft and easily pliable. But after use become brittle and crack from different places. Why is it so? Is it to do with contact with water or atmosphere or anything else which makes the difference. Does it mean that plastic is to some extent degradble with atmospheric effects?

Fossil fuel generation is dumping huge amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere. Nuke plants don't. This would be a great help to the problem of global warming. Keep the spent fuel in silos beneath the plant itself. This would eleminate transport worries. and if, in 20,000 years someone digs it up, they should be smart enough by then to figure out there may be a danger under the big pile of man made rubble.

I assume there are no uranium mines in the United States, or at least within walking distance of the major metropolitain area and the nuclear power plants that supply them.

a lake nearby is suffering from eutrophication (the fertilizer is being deposited into the lake from a golf course surrounding it) what could the golf course do (use subsitute instead to the fertilizer maybe?) to prevent further problems or to fix what they have caused? any suggestions?

I would like to find ants for an ant farm. What I'd really like to do is find more interesting ones instead of the common harvesters that a lot of people use.
