More than 10 years ago, you hardly found this haze in Singapore. This is due to recent years of industrialisation in Indonesia where forest burning is common for the farming and agriculture industries. Most important factor is cost saving by burning the forest in clearing the land instead of using machinery. Thus, is difficult to prevent this from happening because nowadays everyone is talking about "cost saving".

There a variety of causes, some natural, some manmade (pollution).

Reducing the level of haze will cost money to fix the pollution problems. That has been done in the US in California. It cost a lot of money and laws needed to be passed requiring people to spend it. That was difficult and California was strongly criticized for doing it.

But it really reduced the levels of haze in California.

as quickly as the haze instruments in, that's confusing to do away with it except it rains actual heavy and the wind direction alterations. i'd see the sole way is for Indonesia to impose heavy penalty for all those whose land were burnt and to declare confiscate their land - regardless of no be counted if or not they are to blame. in this manner, the land vendors would be extra careful. Culprits would desire to be barred for say 5 years.
