The US is dream land compared to china

60% of Chinese cities have serious air pollution problems.
that is SERIOUS PROBLEMS!

Experts also say that more than three-quarters of the water flowing through China's cities is unsuitable for drinking because of pollution from industrial waste

Indonesia is now suffering the fastest rate of deforestation in the world, losing a wooded area the size of Switzerland every year.

Scores of rivers have dried up and water tables are getting ever lower.

DALLAS — Wind turbines supplying energy to homes and businesses will one day line Texas' 376-mile coastline if the state's Land Office Commissioner has his way.

The turbines will stand about 10 miles offshore, enough to preserve the treasured view but close enough to make coastal wind power an affordable energy alternative still missing in the United States, Commissioner Jerry Patterson (search) said.

Last month, the office announced a deal with a Louisiana contractor to build 50 turbines designed to power about 40,000 homes.

If so, what kind can we create? How long do they last? Could this be feasibly done on a big enough scale to reflect light from the sun thereby reducing total global warming? (a temporary bandaid)

What actually works-and more importantly, what is keeping people from using it? Are the costs of producing another type of fuel actually more than what crude oil costs now? Are there any serious projects you know of to use an alternative power source at any industrial plants?

Why isnt there a massive program to include the ocean waves as a source of renewable energy? there are trillions of gallons pushed upon american shores everyday. There is no way to deplete this because the waves are cause by the pull of the moon. If there was a way to turn those waves into energy, then why hasnt man, with all the technology done it? And P.S. i know they have done it in a small way but in talking a massive!

say, net photosynthesis rate of xxx trees equals to consumption of as much CO2 per some time as one car produces during the same time, ok?.

if you could please do the calculation and give me also the data, the figures u used in the calculation- i am asking this question so that i can have some variation of the figures, some interval. and also so that we can all see how much CO2 is being added to the air...

thank you very much for your effort

my igures, just at random - CO2 emission of a car 120g/km, net fotosynthesis production of a temperate forest - 300kg dry matter per year, so it is around or above 200hectars of forest for one car.

I had a discussion of this topic and came to no real answer. I know the USA consumes the more energy than a lot of countries, but do we do it more efficiently than say China for example? I have lived in the USA, and Europe. I find the homes very different, most homes in the USA are wood frame, here in The Netherlands it is cement for example. My guess is wood is a better insulator than cement. What about oil vs. coal for electricity, who uses the most environmentally friendly methods to produce energy?
Despite consumption of energy (large countries of course consume more) who uses it the best, and who has the most energy efficient households? Any answers with sources for further reading would be great.
