Governments are trying to eliminate those kinds of cars. Some of those cars are just simply trucks. And some are sport cars.

But you can actually see the public's preference on the sale. Japanese car companies is owning American cars because they are more fuel efficient and fuel economic, like Toyota and Honda. Car manufactures such as Ford and GM do produce low fuel economic and high emission viehcle.

High fuel costs and pollution are driving public away from large trucks or vans. Instead, they are driving smaller viehcles.

According to you, cars requires 300% fuel and release 300% pollution are most likely to be huge trucks or ferraris. What they can do to save the environment is to change their engines to cleaner and more fuel efficient engines instead of bad-smelled engine.

I dun't know much about USA, but Canadian government has passed a law that indicate all trucks MUST switch their engines to cleaner ones in order for them to drive. Illegal drivers will receive $3000-$5000 CAD fine.

I think this question is as good as asking why manufacturers still manufacture guns when they kill people. It all boils down to demand and supply. And a "logical" justification to it e.g. guns help protect. Interestingly enough, F1 cars happen to be some of the most expensive cars in the world, yet the most efficient. Can't recall the efficiency numbers but if they put that technology in all our production cars we wouldn't have different prices and manufacturers would probably go bust from cost alone.

Your understanding is much more sophisticated than my own, sir. However, Americans have an appetite for cars that go when when we want them to. And we're willing to pay (apparently) for this.

Because businesses exist to make money. So long as you have a product that sells and is profitable, why on earth would you stop making and selling it? (You wouldn't until you find something that sells even better and makes even bigger profits).
