Don't worry, it can't hurt you.
Storms pass then you will get that post-rain smell, so look forward to that.
But if it is storming where you are now I would recommend you turn off your computer just in case the power goes out.
Good Luck!

I vouch for the lightning-heating-up-air answer. The sound that lightning makes (thunder) has everything to do with heat and nothing to do with the speed of light. But then again, that's just a theory. You're probably scared from one or a few of many reasons. Maybe you have some primitive gene in you that made your ancestors know that storms can be dangerous. Maybe you just scare easily. There's nothing wrong with that though. To better know your fear, you should try understanding thunder and lightning more. Click on the links!

Can't say why you're scared, but it makes so much noise because the lightening traveling through the air super heats it to the point that it creates a near vacuum. The air rushing back in to fill the void slaps into the other air filling the void and creates the thunderclap.

I don't know why thunder is loud, but why does it make you scared. I don't know. I love thunder. I guess it's just the way you are.

when the electrons move down, they break the sound barrier

as to why you get scared, it's one of those thing sthat you just have to get used to.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the air around lightning is 50000 F!!!!
thats almost 5 times hotter than the surface of the Sun

that's the sound when you break the speed of sound...meaning you go faster than sound...
see when lightning strikes..the light goes soo much faster and is fully charged with electricity...so that creates a sound and it's thunder...
as to why you'Re scared..it'S because you don't know anything about it. a lot of humans react that way when they don't know much about something...

It is an angel falling from heaven. You become scared because the gates of hell open up to greet him.
