Premise: The earth is in a warming trend (great or small, caused by man or nature)
Question: do you believe that if the human race were to in effect "disappear" from the earth, would the warming trend stop.

I am happy to report that the results of the poll after 24 hrs. are 78% no, to 22% yes.
I guess the burden of saving the world makes the 22% look like 60%. Poor people.

Yes because who would build all the fatories that are constantly puking out effluent in to rivers and choking smoke in to the enviorment!
And since Bush wouldent sign the Kyoto agreement like the rest of the world then we are buggered

I accept the premise locally (for the years 1940 to 2000, pending more information on 2000-2006).

Locally, my answer is "no": in the short term (circa 100 years), the warming would continue.

Minor response to foxyfoxyg: Bush can't ratify the treaty, the Constitution gives that power to the Senate. The Senate voted it down, as I recall, 99-0 or so. (Maybe 98-1, I forget.)

Not really. Read "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton. It may be fiction but the charts and statistics are from real information.
