It is possible that the two are directly linked. If the conflict in the Middle East develops into a nuclear issue, the amount of nuclear fission from all the bombs could burn the entire planet's population with teh fireballs and fallout. If that doesn't do us in, the natural course of global warming will take care of any survivors.

The two are inextricably connected. Global warming likely causes underlying widespread changes in the human psyche that effects more war-like behavior. Also, energy resources are strained by both war in oil-rich vicinities and global warming. War causes pricing and access problems. Higher temperatures cause greater power requirements for living. This becomes more evident as previously underdeveloped nations are becoming commercialized. The combination of these factors will wreak plenty of havoc, ending us with mass destruction due to major religious wars and climate/geologic changes from global warming.
Of course, equally possible is that we will be rocked by technological innovations that will change every conceivable present view of apocalyptic onset, provide new fuel and shelter possibilities, and forestall our doing ourselves in.

I think only global warming has the capacity to render humanity near extinct (and it's probably too far along now to really turn around, especially after last year's discovery of global dimming). The other option can chop our numbers substantially though.

I am not aware that either of those are serious threats at the moment. The conflict in the Middle East is over the United States' occupation and Israel's land disputes with the Palestinians.

my personal opinion: the religious conflicts - which is camouflaged under 'war and terrorism'.
Global Warming is just nature.. and its ways.. its the only control nature has on us ruthless humans, if it gets us 'before' the humans get each other.. then nature's saving us humans of our sins.

Neither, I believe that Jesus will come for the true Christians before any of that happens.
