The best type of tree is one that is native to the area you live. Natives will grow well in your climate and will support the local ecosystem the best.

The reason for planing trees is that they absorb carbon dioxide, which is what is causing global warming, and so planting trees helps to reverse global warming.

To slow global warming, trees that live a long time will do the most good (they sequester carbon the longest).

Because of global warming, select a tree that also lives south (towards the equator) from you. It is only going to get warmer where you are and if you pick a northern tree, it will increasingly be out of its element.

Not the longest lived, but fast growing and good in a wet area is a Cottonwood tree. They can get huge and do so pretty quickly. Take a hike near a stream and dig out a sapling that is near several others (they'd compete with each other so you're not hurting things by removing one).

Most other (more upland) trees can't tolerate really wet ground.

the older a tree is the more efficient it can convert co2 into o2, so get a large old tree from a tree nursery or one with large leaves that stay around for a long period of time, like oak, not walnut because there leaf life is around 90 to 120 days

Weeping willow trees grow well in a wet area like you have with the natural spring.
