I will be most likely to leave my teaching post at the completion of this term ( 3 weeks time). I have had a rather tough time at work as I have a student that has attatchment issues and is obsessed with me. Should I tell my students I will not be returning? I do not want to be touched ( hugged) by this one child who's mother is a drug addict and likes to sue and assualt those who cross her path.I want to be honest with the other students but this one child who is obssessed with me can also give me a look like he wants to slit my throat. I teach 7 to 8 year olds. Any Advice? Should I just leave quietly? As I will not be returning to the state system and will be working at a private institution in future that does not deal with behavioural students.

Lots of people only speak of children bullying each other in school, but I know of lots of teachers who picked on students back when I was in school. And it wasn't that long ago. I am only 20 years old. I used to go to a room where they helped kids read and write and it was like an aid room. Well anyway, there was this teacher named Mrs. Kucik and she always singled out this kid named Kyle. I remember her how she'd yell at him for no reason and if Kyle smiled, she'd accuse him of acting inappropriately and being goofy and not taking her seriously and all sorts of stuff. Some of the substitute teachers who weren't use to her behavior were just like wide-eyed and gasped. lol! Of course the teachers that usually work in there would just accuse the child of behaving inappropriately if the other teacher had a problem with it. It's kind of funny how teachers behave that way. This teacher was such a bully. and that might be where youngsters get it from. U ever had a teacher bully? explain

Seriously, I have a hard time with that. I think I have some type of brain damage.

I can't focus in class or when people talking to me. When I'm in class, usually, the teacher is talking about certain subject, I'm not focus, I'm only thinking about, "How will I study for this lecture?"

My husband and I are considering moving to Tampa, FL this summer. We currenly live in Buffalo, NY. He has an excellent opportunity to work on the business end of a construction company, but I am a teacher. We are looking at the Hillsborough County school district (middle and high school) and I would like some feedback about this decision. I've heard some horrible things about the education system in Florida, but have been impressed with the Hillsborough County School District from my research. Are there any excellent schools that are not "urban" type schools? Any suggestions ... positive or negative? Shoule we make the move or am I setting myself up for failure considering where we are from?

In addition, where would be some better places to live in this area?

Thanks for your advice and opinions.

I am working on a Liberal Arts degree right now in General Studies and I want to know for my electives what courses should I take that will help speed up my teaching process? Is there a site that lists the courses I need in order to become a NYS teacher? I've looked at the DOE site, but I didn't find specific courses.
Any help would be appreciated.

I heard there was NOT a need for elementary teachers in Michigan...does that go for Detroit also (it wouldn't seem like it to me anyway). I know things such as special ed. teachers are always in need but what about plain old elementary school teachers in Detroit? Is there a need.....

I am currently students teaching in a classroom of very low to average 4th graders. My co-op would like me to do a unit on poetry. He suggested that I use this book called Love That Dog by Sharon Creech to introduce the topic. I'm not really feeling this book. I don't think that any child would actually write like this. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Please nothing involved or attached to christianity, I want pure logical reasoning steps and methodical reasoning. Too many of those home-school sites are scary as they are so slanted and fallacious in their arguments in order to produce children that believe the arguments for their religion.
