If you were able to find a full time job at a Catholic school in the Midwest, I would guess around 20,000. Most music positions in Catholic schools are not full time and the teacher is bounced around between the public and private schools with a few hours at each school per week. (Elementary especially! Secondary would be better with Chorus, Band, etc.)

Private schools, because they are not run by the state, can pay whatever they wish. Some private schools pay sub-standard salaries and offer few benefits. Other private schools offer a small student/teacher ratio, salary about standard and lots of benefits, sometimes including housing. Private school teachers don't belong to a union, so there is no scale. If you're job hunting, contact a few private schools and find out precisely what they pay.

Typically, private school teachers make less, do not have job security, do not have as good retirement plans, and deal with more parental concerns than public school teachers.
Good Luck....
