I am a qualified English teacher in the UK and I want to do some private tutoring in Saskatchewan Canada. Do I need to be a certified teacher to be able to do this in this particular province? I have been told by a friend that I have to. In the UK, America, South Africa, you don't need to be.

I'm looking at credential programs in California and trying to decide if it's worth it to get my masters too. Some people say that you will have the advantage when applying for teaching positions, whereas others say that districts don't always want to hire people who have a masters because they have to start them higher on the pay scale. Any opinions or useful information would be appreciated!

I'd like to read a good literary analysis of the Book "Before We Were Free," by Julia Alvarez. I'd like to emphasize that I am not trying to do plagiarism, I need to read what people have said about this book, and compare it with what I have done. This is for academic purposes only. Thank you very much in advance.

It occurs to me that there are so many teachers in America that try to make a difference in conservative small towns by opening the minds of young students to new ideas and perspectives.

Often times, these teachers are ousted from the schools by oversensitive PTA's and religious organizations or even bullied out by the students themselves.

Did you ever witness this in school? Did you like the teacher or maybe you saw reason for them to be tossed?

Does anyone have any ideas or any grading rubrics that they use? I want to be fair in my grading practices so that I can tell the students what they need to work on for improvement. All Ideas are welcomed!

I am thinking about becoming a teacher.
As of yet, I still am not sure which grade levels I would teach, but am leaning toward high school. I really like younger kids too, though, so elementary school is not out of the question.

Any teachers who can tell me some of the most rewarding / most challenging aspects of the career, I would appreciate this. thanks!

I am 14 years old and my mom wants me to help her friend's child, who is 6, to read and do math but I have no idea where to even start! I'm not sure what grade she's in but I think 1st or 2nd grade. If anyone has any tips or websites that I can go on to see examples, that would mean a lot.

Thanks!

I have always known I want to teach, but was always hesitant because of the fact that I stutter. I underwent speech therapy but did not find it very helpful. I decided to enter the education program anyways and I really enjoy it and feel that I will be good at it. Someone at school said to me "I never heard of a teacher that stutters, are you sure this is the right carreer for you?" I am starting to think I am in over my head.....
