I am graduating in May and plan on leaving Pennsylvania for Florida. How easy is it to get a job down there?

I live and teach in Florida--for the last eight years.

It is extremely easy to get a teaching job in Florida. There is such a population boom that school districts go North recruiting quality teachers.

If you are serious about this move to Florida, check out the job postings site:

Good Luck....

I have a close friend who left NY to teach in Florida. She had no problem finding a job.

She is very happy with her school, students, and the climate.

She is unhappy, however, with the size of her class-- 35 fifth graders! She says they're passing laws that should improve this, though. She also said the pay is slightly less than she would be making in the northern states.

If you're looking for a job (in the north or south), here's a link to an e-book that might be helpful: http://www.iwantateachingjob.com

Good luck with your job search!

Yes it is easy. We passed a constitutional amendment mandating smaller classroom sizes so there is a demand all over the state. In addition, Georgia pays better so some teachers go there, furthering the shortage. Do not wait until you graduate. There are websites for the various counties where you can apply for a job. By May, all the positions will be filled. Here is the link for Hillsborough County in Tampa http://www.sdhc.k12.fl.us/HumanResources/
