I plan to be a preschool teacher, and I am wondering, when my children reach preschool age, should I have them attend the school that I teach at? If so, how do I help them to adjust to having thier mother make other children's needs important, and having to share their mother's attention with other kids?

If you teach 3rd or 4th grade could you please tell me how you grade everyday homework. Do you just grade it for a completion grade and then grade 2 or 3 a week for an actual grade? Or do you grade it everyday for an actual grade? Please tell me what grade you teach and how you grade everyday homework.

Is it risky to teach outside of the text book?
I'm still a little wet behind the ears so forgive me if I seem ignorant when it comes to teaching. When I shifted from Highschool to College, I was left stunned in my history class because a lot of the stuff I learned in college was nothing like I learned in school!

I'm wanting a EC-Grade 12 teaching degree. I'm not considering a career as a college professor at the moment. If I were to teach what I would learn in a college course to a highschooler along side what they learn in a text book, would be risky? I know so many people have a different views on what happened in history (especally when religion comes into play).

I need to do a project showing how technology can be used as an aid in teaching. Its a practical hands on sort of thing, so we are expected to create some kind of software. It need not be complicated, even a powerpoint will do. What is important is that it is effective in conveying ideas and concepts to the students. Any ideas? Thanks!

My current school has been screwing with me--switching me and another teacher's class schedule so she gets the better students and I get the bad ones even though I'm more qualified to teach the advanced students. If I wait 2 years, I'm almost positive I'll get the AP English III position (although, who knows with the administration at my school). I'm considering Dallas and even some towns in Georgia--what should I do?

If you are currently a teacher, based on your experience, would you go into it again? Based on my experience (much of it quite negative, to be honest), I probably would not do it over, knowing what I know now. I've seen violent students not punished much at all, am constantly surrounded by profanity and inappropriate sexual language and behavior, am disrupted to the point where teaching is often not possible much of the time, and do not feel that the administration support is effective. What about you, and why?

My school ranks near the bottom of the district in a large urban district. Although all the teachers are working overtime, we feel as if we are hitting our heads against a concrete wall. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do to motivate them?

These students come from a very low socio-economic area and many of them are below grade level with reading skills. We have been providing additional reading groups for them since the beginning of the school year and they have also had tutoring after school. This is elementary school level. Also there are more than 10% that have repeated a grade level.
