I don't believe it does. it doesn't get reported to YA. thumbs up and down are a way to say good job, or you suck. the thumbs down is to show your disapproval, but isn't so bad that you would report a violation.

nah. It's just a way for people who feel you gave a bad (dumb, incorrect,etc.) answer to vent since we can't directly correspond with each other. It doesn't mean anything either way unless you get voted "best answer" in which case each thumbs-up is an extra point . The thumbs-down answer, still doesn't mean anything other than people disagreed with you.
